Q:

Hold technique…Yes, It’s me testing again

I have found that holding the rifle firm, especially between my shoulder and cheek,
almost to the point of muscle shake, produces (at least for me) the best results….
I used a target with bullseye circles just for Buzzcat…..Just jerkin your chain Buzz…. :18
2 shots to figure mildot holdover and tweek the windage, then 5 shots at the bullseye….

And that completes our testing for the season ladies and gentlemen….You can pick up
my CD at the rear as you exit…..
Thank you and good night….

Yeah Mam I didn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so wasn’t going to complain, but those do look MUCH nicer. How big are those circles? One inch? Put a dime or quarter in the pic. for reference please.

As you can see by the bottom group, they don’t all come out the way you want them too…..

Chances are it is your trigger technique then.

If you hold the gun light and use only the pad directly behind the finger nail on your trigger finger you will get accurate and consistent results.

If you are placing the trigger finger on the trigger at the first knuckle then you will cause the gun to move as you pull the trigger to one side.

If you are holding the gun tight and using the same trigger technique you are diminishing the variable of your trigger pull. But you also can be adding the variable of frame flex.

Holding a gun tightly will decrease your accuracy from the influence of your muscle fatigue and pulse. It might not have happened yet but it will the more you shoot.

Proper trigger technique, consistent light hold, consistent head placement, proper parallax adjustment and good pellet selection are the keys to shooting an airgun consistently accurate.

First thing I changed was my trigger pull techique after reading your article right after I got the gun. That did seem to help a lot….
Second thing that help a lot was putting on the WOKBUTT and I am not just trying to blow smoke up your WOKBUTT…It adds a ton of stability….
It seems I have tried holding it every which way I can possible think of but ya know, I am all for trying it all again….I have started from scratch again at other things. I know that if you aren’t doing it right you will never get passed mediocre….OK then…more practice…..
Thanks for the input everyone…..

Doesn’t that look so much nicer? 😆 8)

I have to admit…You’re right…Much more profeesional and clean…the other was way to busy…

if it works, it works 8)

The relaxed hold is what I have been doing for the most part and it
wasn’t until I finally noticed that holding it firm made the groups tighten
up consistantly….I had been taught to hold firm but not tight….I find that
my gun torques when it fires and mostly throws the shot left….Doesn’t
do that when I hold it firm enough to counter act or surpress the torque….I have
fought the idea of holding it firm but have to give in given the results….

Doesn’t that look so much nicer? 😆 8)

if you’ve been holding your gun that tight this hole time then I’m thinking that has been your problem with the accuracy this hole time, these guns like to flex a bit when muscled around and, try a nice relaxed hold with absolutely No lateral presser and see if the groups tighten up for you
