Hot-Rodding the P-Rod

The weather in Texas this week reminds me of when I was stationed in Brunswick Maine . Thought we were supposed to be in global warming . Anyway after feeding the livestock yesterday I spent the rest of the day treating my frostbite and working on my new P-Rod . I’ts a pretty simple and straight forward teardown , anyone with any experience at fieldstripping and cleaning weapons should have no problems . I was hopeing to get a little extra velocity and I figured the hammer spring would be a good place to start . I fabricated a small spacer to fit behind the spring which creates more spring compression . There is a small bushing with rubber washers on each end which transfers air to the barrel chamber from the valve an the air tube . I enlarged this with a 7/64 drill bit and polished the inside with 400g emory paper . There are probably other mods that can be made but this looked good for now . After reassembly I fired one 14 shot string ( two mags ) Its was just too damn cold to shoot much more . Results as followes . 3000 psi start 2100 end. 18g JSBs , 705, 706, 706, 710, 712, 715, 718, 718, 715, 714, 711, 708, 706, 705, 702, 698. This is nearly a 100 fps increase at a cost of a shot count loss from 24 ( 3 mags ) to 16 ( 2 mags ) . I think this pretty damn good for a pistol, better than many springer rifles . About 20 fpe I think . I expect someone like Tony at TalonTunes could do a lot more with this pistol . This is going to be a fun gun .

Pray for some global warming !

Nice work on your p-rod.
So you opened up the transfer port then, is that right? 🙄
Good power & shots.

Did the gun get any louder?
