i knowi dont have as many guns i have the gamo shadow and crosman pumpmaster (first ever gun) but im only 15 dont have the money to buy all the guns i plan on buying more as i get older
i dont shoot as much as i would like weekends only durring school and have a summer job yeah i understand what you mean about pellet prices ive noticed that in even the past couple years you could do what my grandpa would do make his own pellets made several molds of kodiacs and made his own probably not as good for the barell as the manufactured ones though 😉 😀 😀
I see you own only 1 other pellet gun. I have several more than you do so I probably do more shooting, but I don’t have nearly enough as some other guys. I know guys that order $200 pellet orders 2-4 times per year. The go through 1,000 pellets/month with ease.
I ordered some other stuff too but 12 tins is nothing unusual for me or many people (3 are free so you pay for 9). I also have .177 guns. I have to get those JSB predators (in both calibers for my Springers & CO2) when they are available because they are often out of stock and noone carries them for like 4+mos (total) out of the year. Plus I got Eun Jin’s 28.4’s and SamYang 32 grainers on top of some more Kodiaks for my power modded Condor that likes heavy pellets. It adds up $, believe me. Pellets are not cheap anymore. I remember buying Beeman pellets (mostly pointed ones were available back then in the blue square box) in the mid-80’s for $1.49. I don’t think inflation has gone up 600% since.. An average car cost $8-10K back then. That means your average Camry or Accord should cost $60K today, they don’t. So why does a tin of decent pellets cost $8-12 today for only a couple of hundred? They are taking advantage of the demand because the airgunning sport has skyrocketed in the last decade. A year ago in August I remember buying the square cardboard boxes of Crosman Premiers for $14.50. Now they are are $22-23. That’s an insane increase of 50%..so I refuse to buy rip-off CP’s anymore, but that’s a discussion for another time. They are not as good as they used to be anyway. I used to have CP’s fall right through the barrel. They decreased the quality of the product, and the QA, and charged 40-50% more for an already overpriced pellet. I refuse to do business with a company like that. How I got to talk about Crosman I have no idea. I type fast and think fast.. so sorry for the long post. I need food 🙂
One good thing was I sold most of their QA issue-plauged boxes I had and made a profit 🙂
yeah i dont think i will get the tri rail right away if i need to i will and ill add a bipod and pellets to it
200 bucks in pellets?!?!?!?!? lol
Well if you have the standard butt piece like me, then the Tri-rail+high rings will definitely not be too high, unless you have a very short neck.
Right now I don’t have the tri-rail but have Beeman 2-piece mount with high rings which are pretty much as high as they come. I still have to put my head down in a slightly uncomfortable position which I can’t hold for very long (not good if you ‘re tracking your querry through your scope) because it starts straining my neck, and wish the scope were at least another 0.5″ maybe 3/4″ heigher. The tri-rail adds ~0.6″ to the height so that would be perfect for me instead of compressing my neck to look through the scope.
I just have not gotten around to ordering it because I got nothing else to order from Pyramyd Air. I placed a large pellet order a month ago with other stuff and forgot to add the Tri-rail base to the cart after I looked at it and decided I wanted it. I was kicking myself because I ordered close to $200 worth of stuff. I would hate to pay $9-10 in shipping for just a $29 item so I ‘m waiting until I need some other stuff.. It won’t be long 🙂
yeah i will i will post something and let ya know what i go with when i order it
He is going to want either the tri rail and one piece high or medium mounts, or a one piece high mount. To eliminate scope rail flex issues. But it is your gun so do what you want.
i thought it would be too high if i got the tri rail and the high ring? i guess not your the only person i have found that has said anything about that thank you for your advice.. i probably will get the rail then
thanks Harry
If you go with a 1-piece mount make sure it comes with high rings.
The Bushy Legend is kind of fat/bulky in the middle and may touch the mount if it comes with medium-height rings. I have a BKL 260D7 1-piece which only comes with the medium/standard height rings, and it’s on one of my springers. I had to shim the rings so that the Legend wouldn’t hit (sit on) the base of the rings, ie: so it would not rest on top of the 1-piece structure. The crosshairs were crooked before I shimmed, because I could not turn the scope to level them.
You really don’t need a 1-piece mount. 2-piece with high rings would do the trick. If you can afford it get the tri-rail + 2-piece mounts, instead of just the 1-piece mount (sits higher so less strain on your neck). The tri-rail provides more rigidity to the frame because it covers more area. That is a better combination IMO, plus you get the side rails for future accesories.
The Legend is probably the best bang for the price ($169 at opticsplanet.com w/ship.) because it has great sharp optics with 91% light transmission, plus the mil-dots. It is probably one of the best scopes I have and better than the Bushy Banners (and Sportsman), and some other supposedly “high-end” Simmons scopes I have in that price range. I have not had the need for more magnification than 12-13 or so for hunting or target shooting but I do most of my shooting within 50yds. The Legend stays sharp all the way to 15X unlike some of my other scopes that go down hill in the last few notches of the zoom dial.
Harry
yeah i have that on my gamo shadow it looks ok but what i think i am going to try it try to spray paint my own camo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I_WbTWRTcc
something like that
it will probably take a while before i get it as good as that ,then ill do the gamo then once i get the talon ill do that
Yeah it is the self stick tape. It is off now because I was taking my internals out to much, add taking it on and off every time was a pane. It worked well though.
my bad that was suppose to go to bikincrazy52
by the way is that self stick tape that you put on your gun? it looks really nice i bought some of that at my local True Value and put it on my Gamo shadow
I’m not sure what you seeing in self sticking tape? My press. switch for the laser has some, but that’s on the other side of the gun.
i didnt know that either thank you for your advice 🙂
A two piece will work fine as far as mounts go. Most guys go with one piece or the Tri Rail because it greatly reduces frame flex in the weakest point in this guns frame.

pellets have gone insanely expensive lately….
what i think is going on right now is that theres some greedy importer thats trying to milk the business….and creates a fake undersupply of pellets, so that people when they finally finds a retailer that carrys the pellet are willing to pay a premium….
JSB sells to who ever wants to buy…you just have to be able to pay for a pallet of pellets….we are talking 1000+ tins if you can pay for that you could get them for 2$ a tin + shipping which would make it about 4$ a tin when they finally arrive here in the US…but it is alot of money to shell out….but hey its about 4000$, that could give a return of 2-3000$, if someone was willing to go through the trouble….i usually just pick up a bunch of pellets when im in denmark….even with 25% sales tax they are cheaper than pyramidair with coupons, and 4th tin free
