HOW MANY 177 SHOOTERS DO WE HAVE ON TAG

I have looked all over and have found next to nothing on .177 air force data,

I have set my 22 condor up for 800 fps with 14 grain pellets for 20 foot pounds for field target power, and was thinking about getting a 24” barrel in 177 and doing the same thing , but i cant find any reading on the air force for 177 , and like zero groups and such.

trajectory calculator and it looks like a 10 grain 177 at 925 fps for just under 20 foot pounds of energy ,is – 1.69 at 10 yards ,zero at 35 yards, highest point in trajectory is the zero at 35 yards down – 1.26 at 55 yards, so a (((1.69” trajectory curve)))

14 grain 22 at 800 fps for just under 20 foot pounds of energy is -1.18 at 10 ,zero at 18,highest point in trajectory is +.97 at 35 yards , then down – 1.12 at 55 yards.so a (((2.15 ” trajectory curve)))

not a whole lot of difference, this is figured for the zero to equal out the trajectory with the 3.2 ” bore to scope center on the condor

Just wonder if it would be of any benifit, the 177 would probably use less air, don’t know , just trying to figure out if it would be worth fooling around with.

hey andy , you have any group pics or set up info, that’s pretty sweet

A Talon with a 24″ .177 barrel and a 2400 psi fill will hit a Coors 12 oz. can at 93 yds. 43 times with out changing POA. Great set up if you don;t need the knock down power.

Ok do you guys think that the 177 would use less air than 22, with moderate velocity of say 8 to 10 grain pellets at 900 to 920 fps

i have made the 14 g. 22 very efficient at 800 to low 900’s ,

also have a plinking tune with 175 shots with the 14.g 22 at 500 to 600 back to 500 fps , 2000 fill 1300 left, 700 psi used, that’s like 4 psi a shot,

Now here is what i am after if i get a 177 24″ barrel , will the 177 be more or less efficient than i have been able to make the 22.

i have wanted to try this for a while, so i am throwing it out there to See what you all think.

when properly set up a 177 is VERY efficient. youll wanna change up the valving, perhaps a talon valve. i have a slightly modified micrometer that i can imagine will perform very naturally in the 20ftlb range. regulated would be another option. as for trajectory data, youll just have to make your own.

ive been doing 177 for a while now while i piece together a .25…

see there is none , guess i am going to have to buy a 177 barrel and make some 🙂

i assume that most buy the air force for top power and the 177 just is not used much in this platform
