How to set your reg without a tester for the NUB’s
With this detailed info you will not need a reg setter: I have tried to set my test reg without a setter just going by the AOL in all 5 bar setting and tested with the reg tester and got within under 5Bars of 130b, 120b, 110b, 100b and 85b.—-> Big note this is for the 16disk regulator, a 17 disk will have a 52.88mm AOL for 130B. don’t need the 17th disk unless your going to use 145b + in .25 cal in the 70fpe. 85B your still in the 825FPS range in .177 and .22!
Disk arrangements: (()) (()) (()) (())
These are the reference measurements for the fallowing parts–you can add or subtract to your AOL:
Rotor: 29.22mm 
Reg body: 44.48mm 
Delrin seat: 20.03mm 
Bars in AOL:
130B: 53.80mm
120B: 53.61
110B: 53.40
100B: 53.34
85B: 53.20

I need to improve the air reg.
If 52.88mm is about 130 bar.
53.00 mm will be about 140 bar?

What consistency / extreme spread will that give?
And is two by seven ()()()()()()() more or less consistent than the standard four by four disc arrangement at this power setting? (())(())(())(())
On .177 with this setup you will max out around 750fps 8.4g, with my light valve spring 3 tunes. My Lighten 1 5/8″ hammer spring with HSTA. Reg at 1200psi
Ernest, in this old post you recommended a ()()()()()()() arrangement, 7 sets of 2 discs, for low power and 7 FPE.

2. .22 and .177 have 16 disk, most newer .25 has 17 disk.
3. Yes, Over all length.
4. yes dimensions could be slightly off, mostly it the delrin seat–at time they have been resurface the seating area—I do when they leak.
****Remember the measurements are reference only but it will get you vary close!
My friends new .177 STD (produced May .30, 2014) has a 17 disc reg in it. A miss at the factory or an update – who knows.
That’s why you don’t have monkeys measuring things!!! 😆

In my industry the old saying was… vernier = very near; but a guy like Ernest who uses one a lot and gets consistent measurements has accuracy that should be comparable within +/- .001 to my bi-anually calibrated Mitutoyu calipers. The other saying is… “it’s not a monkey wrench!”
That’s why you don’t have monkeys measuring things!!! 😆
No tool is, if is not used properly.
Excellent documentation Ernest – this gives me hope that I won’t destroy anything on the day I take her apart. She hasn’t broken in yet so I dare not take anything apart. 😳
Also thanks on clarifying that AOL decryption – it was giving me fits. I hate acronyms but sometimes we interpret things quickly with them.

That’s So true“““/////????? if you have 5 Monkeys taking measurement on the same parts—you will get 5 different measurement’s :ugeekn: !!! but at least you will get an average measurement’s.
As a QA, I take 6 measurements and average it out—and that’s the # I posted—–>A caliper isn’t a perfect tool when not use properly!

although in theory this method looks good unfortunately everyone’s callipers will measure differently giving different results.. the cheaper verniers cant even be opened and closed without giving a different measurement each time..
