Q:

Hummingbird semi or what?

So what the hell, is anybody going to confirm or deny that it’s a semi-auto?

Don’t believe that price. They always say stuff like that at the Shot shows to peak interest. Add $200-300 and you will be close.

OK, I’m first on the list to write a review on the HB, around Apr. I’ll take it apart parade rest and show you how it works–the good & the bad.

I’m sure you’re hitching to get one in your hands Ernest 🙂

It will sell like Hotcakes regardless 😉

I guess 2 Grand

Price has been projected at $1100-$1200 by the reps at the Shot Show

That’s cheap

Did you see the mechanics inside – holy cow it’s complicated. That worries me a bit. 😯

I wasn´t impressed by its looks either , at first , but it has grown on me and the new one looks really good IMO.

Damm-it! 😀

remember when it first came out in Europe, I thought Now That’s Butt Ugly. WTF!!! Now I love the look of it! :8: Man, this getting old sure is strange! 😆 😀

I saw a shot string from that “old”, shorter barrel model and it shot , in .22 at around 260 mps. I´ll find the article and check with which pellets.

The longer barrel means more velocity so maybe it will be at acceptable FPE level now.

Found it. And it was with 16gr JSB´s.
1) 261
2) 259
3) 260
4) 260
5) 260
6) 260
7) 260
8) 260
9) 259
10) 260
11) 260
12) 260
13) 261
14) 260

That´s one string straight as an arrow though …

Excuse my ignorance with guns, semi-auto means that every time you pull the trigger it fires correct? No need to pull that side bolt back each time?

I noticed the gun at the show is a lot longer than the ones we’ve been seeing on youtube. Still looks beautiful though!

Donny, The H. Bird was a bit anemic compared to the other offerings. I’ll bet they put a longer bbl. and air tube on it to appeal to us power hungry types! 😉 😀

The JSB 20 cal pellets are 14 plus grain and shoot well. There are atleast 10 different pellets to choose from but i don´t care if there were 150 – once i find a pellet that shoots good it´s the pellet i´ll be using and the only one i need. I´m willing to bet that either the JSB Exact .20 or H&N FTT .20 OR both will shoot well on 90 % of the .20 cal barrels.

Here there are several .20 cal Rifles to choose from and even higher-end brands like Weihrauch and Steyr make many models in that caliber.

I have a Sheridan Streak in .20. It shoots well but not many guns are available here in .20. (its like a 16 gauge shotgun) The heavy 10.34 JSB .177 pellets actually do pretty well which is what I mainly shoot in my Stubby Modded Talon. The .20 Benjamin’s are 14.3 grain. It is really accurate to 50 yards but bigger and heavier than a Compact Cricket. 🙂 If the Cricket was in .20 stock, I would consider it. 😛

The .177 is fun because the pellets are so small for the birdies and gives them a chance. 😆 The 30 cal just blows them up. 😛 I live in a valley with limited wind most of the time and 95% of the shots are under 50 yards with so many trees. I use my .22 P-Rod with the TKO for near silence on the squirrels and sparrows too.

Too many guns and choices. 😯

quote Sir Ville:

BTW – what about a Cricket compact in .177, toss the barrel and get a .20 LW barrel for it ?
O.K , i know, i know ; The .20 cal isn´t highly regarded in US but i think that would be the ultimate Sparrow slayer for Coda and why not : Essentially the same trajectory as a .177, less wind sensitive but more punch at the target. I´ve been tossing that idea a while and i´m getting more and more drawn into that project.

Right now I don’t see any reason to switch from picking up a Compact Cricket in .177 than to get a Bird other than the novelty of it. Smaller and lighter and proven accuracy for hunting. Semi-auto is a natural way to decrease one’s shooting skills IMO. I guess if it is a lot less expensive, which it may, be then I will consider it. If the Cricket is $1849 for the skeleton walnut and the HBird only $1500 for the walnut, I may have to reconsider. 😯

quote RIDETOEAT:

Hopefully for me the crickets go dead while everybody is jumping on the HB, and I an snag a deal on one of those.
