Q:

I’m looking for a light-weight scope for a Short

(sigh) the search goes on. I desire something compact, and light weight so as not to make the Short top-heavy. The gun will mainly be used for target shooting inside of 50 yards. Still, old eyes need to see. I know I don’t want a duplex reticle. AO would be nice. If I can see to place shots inside 1 inch (25mm) at 25 yards, I’d be happy. Back to Amazon.
thanks,
Darryl

quote ElmerFudd:

What’s your definition of “light weight”? … It is light and compact though but for half the price, I’d get the Athlon Talos BTR 4-14×44.

I love my Athlon Optics Talos BTR 4-14×44 FFP scope and highly recommend it (but I am admittedly a relative novice)… However at 23.5 oz it may or may not fit your definition of light.

What’s your definition of “light weight”? The Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10×32 is a good scope but it’s a little lacking at only 10x. It is light and compact though but for half the price, I’d get the Athlon Talos BTR 4-14×44. The Talo doesn’t have a shimmed zero stop but the reticle is better for holdovers. Glass is close to that of the Vortex. I chose the Talo because it has a bit more mag, better reticle and parallax down to 10 yds. Oh yeah and it’s half the price.

It’s the scope pictured on top but I’ve had it on the Mutant as well.

RS, I wasn’t too familiar with Trenier Outdoors, so thanks for the link. I see it has some interesting optics there. I’ll look them over.
thanks again,
Darryl

I have the Optisan Cobra 3-9×42 on mine and it works perfect, and very similar to a Clear Ridge, but it has been discontinued.
I have an Optisan Viper fixed 10X on my Cricket 25 and it’s a little too much power for close range. I’m moving it over to a 308 P/B. I looked at the SWFA before buying the Viper and it’s SWEEEET but too heavy and more $. Take a look around @ Trenier

Dman, thanks for the suggestion. I searched but could not locate it. Maybe I’ll go for a SWFA fixed-mag 10x Have to check the weight (while I wait).
thanks again,
Darryl

Go with a Vortex 3.5 x 10 ffp and be done. I love mine
