I want to set up my gun for hunting
I want to set up my gun for hunting exclusively, That means I don’t care about the shot count I simply want the best Power/accuracy for pure hunting.
What do you guys suggest? It is a .22 Cricket Compact so only a 390mm barrel.
Seems a lot of people like to shoot 18gr at 880 fps or so, is that a good Place to start? Like I said I do not care if the shot count suffers…
I am sick of paper punching and just want a grab and go Crow killer ๐

Vortex pst 2.5-10-32 is a perfect scope for the compact it’s ffp but idk if it’s available in EU
What fixed power scopes are there that are not made in china? Not including the SWFA and Edgun because I cannot find them in EU.
I agree that fixed magnificaion is by far the best for hunting. It’s simple and it works, unfortunatley SWFA does not ship outside the US. So it is a lot of effort to get one when you are anywhere else. Edgun is a good option as well, but shipping can kill you from him. The shipping company he uses quoted me โฌ600 to ship a R3M to me… tried asking them if there was a cheaper option, but no reply :1:
If you want a hunting rig. Go for fixed power.
I totally agree with Renval,,, for hunting purposes the fixed power are really great choice ,,, that is why i removed my Hawke 8.5-25X42 SF, and replaced with my new Edgun Scopes all my 3 Edguns … try to find a fixed power with a good reticle shape… don’t buy that Delta 4-14X44 FFP…the turret clicks are very limit ,,,,
only think how you can reduce the weight of your pup…
Cricket what works for someone doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you, my suggestion is get a chrony and try different pellets a diferent speeds and pick the best one of all, I will tell you .22 do really good at speeds below 900 fps specially the JSBs, but don’t take my worth for it, do your testing and you will see for yourself, Crickets are beautiful guns, I do like both stocks, the skeleton and the bulldog, unfortunately Kalibrgun doesn’t make the skeleton anymore, too bad bc the bulldog is a sexy stock but too damn heavy and bulky for a hunting gun, there is a guy from Spain (rapid something) who makes nice light stocks for the cricket, I’m thinking to get one from him as well. Regarding a scope, a fixed magnification will do it for you, less moving parts, less weight, SWFA are great scopes but there are some other brands out there that are good too, just do a liltle research and get what you think suits you the best, I mean for your Hunting purposes.
My reborn Edgun .30 will be my hunting gun. It had a sidewinder Tactical scope on it but it’s too heavy, don’t get me wrong I really like it, cool half mil-dot cristal clear reticle, I just got a new Hawke Frontier 30 SF, Man!!! Love it,the scope is super light and the reticle is freaking amazing, specially for longer distances, I can’t wait to test it out on the field! My SWFA is going on my Impact. Excellent scope btw!
My beautiful wst stock is 2.7kg Best stock ever. ๐
Do you know the weight of your stock? Mine is 1,4kg
๐ฏ wow 5kg!! Quite a lot. My cricket STD with hawke 6,5-20 and “harris” bipod has aprox. 4kg I will weight correct. When I target shooting up to 63M/69Y Iยดm using 16X magnification. It is enough so I estimated for good hunting lets say small game we need scope with max. up to 16x
Put your gun on a diet…………………………
Lol, I know. But things change, I am thinking of buying the Delta FFP 4,5-14 and put the big scope on the shelf for now. Maybe in the future I will get a .25 to put it on ๐ Also I might just get that custom stock in order to loose some weight, who knows?
Speaking of weight, I ghave not done that, so let me do it right now!
Oh shit, it almost weighs 5kg… Yeah, definently need to loose some weight

When I asked you some week ago why scope with 25x magnification? You wrote me due to target shooting  and now you trying make hunting rifle from cricket… Wouldn’t be better buy another one rifle and set it like “hunting rifle” ? ๐
Cricket just for info what is weight of your set ?
Oh yeah, good point about the zero, no need for a “logic” zero when you don’t do paper punch. Just set it up where you want it and make a reticle map, stick it to your gun / rangefinder and go out…
Thanks for all the input guys.
The thing is I now have a job(!) I didn’t before. I am still young being born in 1996, and now that I have a job I realized what people say about not having time/energy etc. So now I just want to set up my gun for one purpose and simply grab it and go. No fuss, no extras. Just me, the gun, and nature…
Cricket. …
One more point. …
Try to zero your scopes + gun to get the best flat trajectory. ..
For ex…. my guns zeroed at 38 mtrs…. i can get the flat trajectory from 20 mtrs almot to 42mtrs..
If you set your scope at lower magnification. ..you will get flatter trajectory. …
Thanks…i think this is all…

that is right my bro,,,they are really provide a great customer services, but they are very expensive for sure,,, but had no choice since they are the only shipping company that able to ship air rifles to my oily country,,, i also paid about 550 euro for one particular shipment i Matador …. but what you want from them,,,they do it perfectly… no doubt ,,, if you believe me ,,,i asked them to send me pictures and even i asked them to open my boxes to check each individual items i order ,,,they did perfectly and re-packed my box …
if im not mistaken,,,you can get the Edgun scopes if you are in Europe… you can ask Phillip from French or ask Eduard directly ,,, however he is busy with his nre girlfriend Leshiy ….
or you can find you choice here https://www.optics-trade.eu/en/riflescopes.html?dir=desc&order=price they are very fast and good …
