Q:

If anyone wants a EFR from Leupold.. Got one OTW!

http://www.binoculars.com/rifle-scopes/rifle-scopes/leupoldvx3riflescopes.cfm

It sells for $649 on there that’s $100 off from SWFA or any other website out there.

Once my Hawke sells I will be getting it from here.. seems to be a legit site.

Just sharing,

I dunno, I bought one for my air rifle and I want to buy another higher end scope .

RoachCreek: I see what you’re saying. But the Hype sells and quality doesn’t and nobody I know hunts Elk here with an airgun?

I suggest take a pole and see how many Airforce rifles have high quality Leupold versus High Quality Hawke scopes?

The leupold is high quality, for sure, but absolutely no body buys an Heirloom quality scope for thier Airforce Airgun.

Scope of equal value to rifle will squeak by, where a scope twice the guns value enhances the rifle and shooter?

Typically cost is relative to quality, unless you’re talking about Counter Sniper scopes.

Rebuttle: 400 $ leupold 400 $ value, got to be a profit margin some where, or the company goes out of business. Also the markup from whole sale? Uh, Let’s not forget that “Iron Clad Warranty”, bet that doubles the consumer’s cost. But it’s worth it, “Really”?

buy cheap buy twice.

The glass on the (cheaper) Leupolds isnt the best, and it sure ain’t the worst either . If your going to use those target turrents correctly , your going to need repeatability that your only going to get on the better scopes .

I suppose it all depends on what your doing with it . If your just farting around , shooting cans . I suppose its OK . but if your a serious shooter your just not going to do it with a cheaper scope

I guess it depends on how serious you are .

What no one seems to ever mention is the lightness of the Leupolds ,they weigh oz’s. very vey light compared to a 2 lb Leapers

all I have on my condor is a 10x power Leupold . but it works great . best scope I ever used. no problems at all . and no regrets .

Stop and think about your “Bling” for a second

First lets take a 3×9 Leupold AO for $400.00 All of that $400.00 went into producing repeatable adjustments, a rugged interior that will not shoot loose and quality lenses and internal pieces. It also went into a business that services its customers, things like being able to get target knobs, mildot reticles added at a later date, a facility that has a underground range to test the scopes sent in for repair.

Now lets look at a top end $400.00 “Bling” chinese scope, It has a 30mm tube, a lighted reticle ,target adjustments , side focus, mildot reticle. If it breaks they may give you a new one with the same problems, it costs them just a few bucks to make them, why not?

So where and what did they scrafice to do that? Do you really need all that wonder “Bling”?

Take a high end high magnification scope, on a rifle, outside, in a store does not count, crank it up all the way to maximum power, then do the same with a low end Leupold that offers the same power, if you can’t see the difference, then go ahead by the $400.00 “Bling” scope, take the money you save and go see an optometrist.

Many of us here, when we take a shot at something, it does not matter if it is paper, squirrel, fox, coyote or a deer. We want to hit it, We want to know if we get that shot everything is going to work.

I had the “Bling” on my rifle, it was heavy, I had to send it back to Busnell to get it to work as advertised, it was from an american company, well it started out an american company that was then sold to Bushnell. I diid not use the lighted reticle and find little value in that sort of “Bling”.

I used tell elk hunters who came to hunt on my property that they needed to spend as much on glass as they did on their rifle. That holds true if you really wanting that airgun to perform time after time.

Right now I am suffering from the inconsistancies of a cheap scope.

If ya talking powder burners, Leupolds are ok.

In the airgun world They just don’t have the Bling Factor of the low end scopes. Most state “that scope looked good so I bought it.”, which is never said about “Leupold”. Large Field target or TacticooL “Style” with large side wheels sell, small, expensive high quality with lifetime warranty scopes don’t sell, specially in this economy. You can’t find a picture of an Airforce rifle with a 3-9x33mm or 4x/6x fixed scope, just not cool on this forum.

The lowest priced leupold with AO is around 400 $, a 3-9x33mm AO with absolutely no “Bling”…? Most here will invest about 600 $ in an airfore rifle and $ 200 or less in a scope that looks good (high bling factor) and then use 10 $ scope rings chasing POI with POA, pulling their hair out trying to fix a rifle that ‘s not broke.

A lifetime warranty and quality workmans ship cost too much, and you’re gonna have a hard time convincing us a no bling leupold, is a better airgun value then say a Bling Bling Bling ” Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 30 ” with large side wheel, more bling, Best Reticle available, even more bling. You’ll spend over 1000.oo $ to get that in a Leupold without that side wheel bling?

Most air rifles are just “Luxury Toys”, not working “guns” protecting life and limb while putting meat on the table to survive. Sure some of us do some Varmint hunting and pest control, but still don’t buy a scope costing 2 or 3 times the value of their rifle.

Hawke airgun scopes are still the best value for us airgunners, bar none!

Bling Bling Bling and even some more bling….!

What roach said.

Leupold vx3 is the start of the good scopes. They have good glass, repeatable adjustments, and they are tough, but they don’t cost a fortune. I consider them the bottom of the good. If you spend less, you aren’t going to get consistency. With more money everything just keeps getting better, but leupold is where it switches from not-so-good to good.

I have owned a couple dozen, they seldom if ever break, they always hold poi, and if they ever do malfunction, no matter who owns them at that point Leupold fixes them.

It always amazes me how you guys will sing priaises to rebranded, repriced Chinese Leapers et.al., shit aka Hawkes and bad mouth leupold.

Same factory, same parts different cosmentics. And you can add the lower bushnells, Millet, NcStar to the mix.

Of all the Leupolds I owned and badly abused thru hard rough use, not a one failed me.

If you check the yellow regularly you will see that model Leupold selling for around 275.00 to 340.00 regularly, and it will still have the warrantee.

A friend of mine bought one in a garage sale, it was ancient 4 power and someone had somehow broken a crosshair, only one I ever saw that broke, he sent it back to Luepold and they fixed it for free. Try that with even Bushnell, they have some of the worst repair in the industry. And your repair service on the Leapers et al is probably non existant.

I traded him out of it years later and it served me for many years.

I used to say if I wanted a cheap scope I would buy a Leupold vx2, meaning it was the only brand I would buy and I used vx3 most of the time, but I have been using theother brands lately because buying air guns keeps my playmoney low, I see the error in my ways every time I pick up my air rifles.

I need a Leupold.

Look @ the top right of SWFA’s web page, States they will ‘”110% Low Price Guarantee'”…We will beat any price..!

‘If you find a lower price at any competitor’s store on a new identical item just show us the lower price when you buy the item at SWFA or within 10 days after your SWFA purchase and we’ll give you 110% of the difference.’

Maybe you should @ least talk to SWFA before you plunk down that much cash on uh leupold?

Have you ever fondled a Luepold? Lotta wierd stuff and the glass isn’t that great, just hell of a good ‘Lifetime’ warranty..?

Sam 😕
