Q:

Is a regulator really necessary for Condor? If so which one?

I have a Hatsan AT44 .22 monoshot I used always connected to the scuba tank and benchrest and I think this setup is ok for 100yd and need no regulator.

Now I bought a Condor .22 and Iยดm really confused about the necessity of a regulator for this airgun. Iยดm going to shoot it offhand from 20yd up to 130 yd. Is a regulator a “must have it”?

Ok, assuming a regulator is necessary … which one is the best? Altaros? Etacreg? I even found out the Jdsairman sells one (http://jdsairman.com/Airforce.html) but in their website there is just its description, no photos:

New Product

jdsairman is now offering 3000psi input and 1000 to 2500psi Regulated output HPA regulators that have metric (M18-1.5) threads that screw directely into AirForce Condor,Talon and 3000psi input AF reg 1000 to 2500psi Regulated Output = $90.00

All opinions are welcome. Tks.

To answer the original question;

Is a regulator necessary – not really IMO, just depends on how many shots your wanting to get per fill and what SD your wanting to achieve.

Before I regulated my .22 condor (24″ barrel) I was getting 20 some shots 18.1g JSB with an SD of less than 10fps at 900fps

I put an altaros regulator on it and at the same FPS with the same pellet I’m getting 75 shots with an SD of 4FPS. ๐Ÿ˜€

What i like about the altaros reg is adjustable. it’s adjustment is done internally meaning you will have to empty the bottle to adjust the setting screw.

FWIW…. Mine was supposed to be sent preset to my requested FPS but it came in shooting a little hot. No big deal, it’s easy to adjust. This reg cannot be filled “quickly”. It’s fill rate is about 500 psi a minute. Also you only need to fill to 2000 to chrony test for adjustment otherwise your wasting air and time.

I’m not sure how the JDS is adjusted. I thought I read somewhere with shims or washers?

I also have one of Doug’s regs on my .25. Love it. ๐Ÿ˜€

I am surprised that one of our guys hasn’t figured out how to make one of these babies here in the U.S>. I am sure if Dyotat got one in his hand he could probably replicate or maybe even improve upon it.

If anyone has one, I would like to see a pic of a JDS that is screwed directly into the bottle with no need for an adapter.

Odd that his site has it listed for so long, with no pic. ๐Ÿ˜•

Can these regulators be user adjustible or the settings are preset from the manufacturer?

JDS selles the Etac reg and he sells one that will connect right up to a standard AF tank..no Co2 adapter needed. There are several models.
So you only have the etac and the altos as choices..

pigs..there is no debate at all.
The AF co2 adapter can handle 3000psi no problems.

Many here use that setup. The Co2 adapter has a 95% hi-flow valve in it. Some have said the only diff is the valve return spring. In effect..just consider it a high flow valve.

I have one of the jdsairman regulators on my condor combined with one of his 62 cu in tanks. You’ll need to get a CO2 adapter of some kind to make the connection to the condor itself as his regulators are really for HPA paintball guns. Then there is the whole debate over whether the CO2 valve that comes with the Airforce adapter will handle pressures above 1800 psi.

As far as accuracy goes I can’t yet confirm that a regulator helps because I’m still breaking in the barrel and have yet to find that magic pellet/power combination. But as far as conserving air they are great. On a condor in 22 the standard valve and pressure are letting a lot of excess air out. I have the 2100 psi regulator and think that may even be too much pressure for a 22. Once I go above 7 on the power wheel on 15 gn pellets the accuracy goes out the window, and that is with the extra condor hammer weight removed. It does however allow me to crank up the power wheel to about 10 and shoot EunJin 28’s and 35’s.
