Is the Edgun still worth $2000?
Hi all, I just received Tony’s email today stating that he’ll have the multi-shot Edgun in stock by the end of the week. My question is: Are they still worth their
$2000 price tag? This is nearly 150% the price of a new walnut cricket from WildWest with the new price drop. 😯 I really like the Edgun but am having a
hard time justifying the extra $500 or so. If those of you who own both guns can provide me with your insight, I’d appreciate it.

I’ll say this – None of these BP’s is worth 2000$ in share build quality.
They sell every single one they muster to make though so these BP’s have to be worth their price for those (us) who buy them and are willing to pay that price.

I’m thinking my 30 will, for my understanding, Ed is not making them anymore or anytime soon, I might be wrong but I’m not selling mine! 😉
The first 53k shots it was set to shoot JSB 18s at 885fps. The last appx 9k it’s been de-tuned to 20fpe for field target shooting the JSB 13.43 at 810fps.
I’ll leave the profession tuning to Ernest but the little things thought into it add up. Did I mention the various weep holes to make it easier to tell where it is leaking from if there is one? Its a tough competition between both manufacturers.

In the end, you should buy what you can afford, and whichever one “turns you on”. A single shot pcp is, to me, worth every bit as much as a multi-shot, because I don’t shoot air rifles like I do when I’m in a real gun fight with powder burners. A pcp is all about accuracy, silence, and an almost boring tendency to continually put lead in the same hole/head of whatever you shoot at.
a single shot is plenty of shot, because with my Edgun I didn’t miss. If I did it was because I rushed the shot. Otherwise, give a reasonable scope, range, and wind, there is no reason to miss. I owned a Cricket and it was a fine rifle. I sold it and went back to the Edgun. Why? It’s my personal choice, the one I feel confident with, the bullpup I like to shoot. That’s it…pure and simple. I’m an Edgun lover.
Others feel the same way about the Cricket. I could find no fault with it.
I have to hand it to the Uncle ; That was one of the – if not THE – best written advice i´ve ever read in this Forum. Kudos !

that would be more like comparing a Dave G gun to an edgun.
this is a Wisdom judgement ,,, great ,,, i totally agree with you ,,,, if Edgun MKII initially had a few indexing issue or bolt needed some effort to cock then after some time each gun has fixed itself automatically ,,, or needed a few work ,,, or at least Ed has updated all new R3M breeches …. i was willing to spend more than $3,000 first when i found my way to import my edgun …. not $2,000 ,,,,,
i don’t say that Cricket is bad ,,,but also they are good,,, but my favorite gun is Edgun ,,,, i did a big risk to get it,,, i paid more for shipping (not from Ed’s side ,,, i paid to another company to ship it from Germany to my country ),,,,, i waited almost two years till i found the way ,,,, i spent almost full my times ,,, i emailed almost 380 emails (or more i believe) to Ed and another dozen emails with several shipping companies ,,,,
if you want to take my **** :2cents: yes, pull the trigger of your pocket and spend more $500 then get your Edgun ….
You really should try a Cricket too. If you´ve only shot one of the current Bullpup´s then that´s the only one you know – kinda one horse – race really. In your case there is only one Bullpup you can compare your EG to and it´s your EG. Right ?
It´s like someone saying “my Car is the best, fastest and most comfortable Car ever made” when the only Car he´s ever driven – or sat in – is his Chevelle.
No offense but in my book if one hasn´t at least tried other options on offer then one isn´t really qualified to declare the winner – let alone be able to give buying advice in this matter. Like said – no offense , just the way i see it. 😉
😆 Yes there is added value for the custom small shop built airguns vs the high volume operation. It’s another factor in the comparison. 😉 That’s why you must own both in this case to appreciate the finer points of the other. 😀

The skeletons are more expensive in the KalibrGun catalog because they take a bit more time to make. I am not surprised they are getting rid of them . It turns out that repairs on the Crickets are really easy (not that they are hard on the Matador but maintenance is optimized on the Cricket with little things like an air bleed screw, and the access panel on the breech, HST replacement, etc.) and replacing any parts including the indexing internals is a piece of cake. It takes me about 5 minutes to replace a valve stem. They can last forever maintained and the parts are readily available.

I second that. I understand the R&D costs are split amongst less units and a %100 perfect unit would be worth the asking price. However, Ernest wouldn’t be that busy if most everyone got a %100 unit; and yes I don’t consider it unreasonable for a hand build Airgun of this price to be pretty dam close to %100. It seams to be little details that end up causing the issues. Just my opinion. I’ve paid the price, I can have one if I want. :whistle:
