Q:

Jim Shockey shooting aimlessly?

I was Just watching Jim’s show and he shot a pig with a Benjamin Rogue. The slow-mo looked like he hit him in the head. Jim usually shoots-em behind the shoulder, so I cant help but to wonder if thats were he was aiming this time as well 😆 😆 😆

My cousins farm is over 200 head of dairy cows and that is their main business. they sell some hogs and beef cows but nothing comes close to the milk $$$. My grandmother used to bake apple pies in the wood stove until about 20 years ago. The outhouse was put out of service about 10 years ago! lol we had a catfish pond and a bass pond. catch a snake put it on the line and bass for dinner! cream off the top of the buckets! made our own butter and deer when in season when the freezer had room. pheasant shot when cutting the corn right from tractor seat. never new what dinner was until you killed it!

I have heard in the bar bathroom here that Crosman approached Butcher to make a call for them that sounded like a can of dry corn rattling. 😉

Butcher of course being a fair chase hunter declined the offer.

RC nobody was supposed to know about my High Fence Special call, but you went and spilled the beans.

I’m working hard on a prototype call that emulates the sound of a feeder going off, and corn kernels hitting the ground. I’m going to call it the “LI Bob Special”. I will have a free MP3 download available for e-callers soon.

I feel sorry for the guys that think they are hardcore hunters, yet the only critters in their “trophy room” are without exception animals that were genetically engineered/raised/fed by people with price tags on them. Then they try to deceive the public and pass it off as a fair chase hunt of a wild animal. Those critters never had to find their own food, deal with predators, hide from people…….nothing wild about livestock, and there is no “hunting” involved there. It’s glorified grocery shopping with a gun.

Slayer,

Nothing beats growning up in the county on either a farm or a ranch.

Kids raised in the city are too far from the blood to realize where that shrink wrapped steak came from.

Haa haaa…or milk for that matter!! “Milk comes from the cartons at the store…duh”

But they do have shiny new cars. 🙄

and…iPads/pods/phones etc etc… 😆

I will even cut and pack the elk! lmao
I grew up on a cattle farm (when I was 1-10 or so)
My family still has the farm we had mostly HOG HUNTS. lol
We sent the cows out for butchering and still killed the hogs and some of them were a little stubborn. 😳

Thats really cool RC.

Now don’t gt me wrong guys, I am not against guided hunts.

If your going to a foreign country, or Alaska you need a guide, that is a no braineer.

Although I was not a guide, I took many hunters out and taught them how to hunt elk, cooked for them, retrieved their elk with my 6 wheel Polaris, or packed them out on my back and enjoyed their company.

Being a guide is sort of lke being a whore in that you have fuck who ever comes up with the cash, even if they have rotten teeth or smelly arm pits.

For me it was different, my hunters were friends. but still after a while I tired of it. I always said, i would love to have a guided elk hunt or a moose hunt and have someone wait on me, feed me furnish the booze and point to the moose and say……

Shoot NOW! Shoot NOW!

But as a child I had many high fence hunts. My family took meat orders from customers living in town, we then killed our own cattle, butchered them and cut and wrapped them on the kitchen table.

So starting around 10 or 11, I started doing the shooting, it started off with a Mossberg 22 352K model and by the time they passed legislation that required a comercial Mobile Butcher to do the slaughter and cutting and wrapping, I had killed around 40 head of cattle.

I only saw two that needed more than one shot, one I shot with a S&W Iver Johnson that I had at around age 14, the bullet bounced or the skull and back over my shoulder when I fired requireing the Mossberg to enter the fray and the 2nd was when the first Mobile butcher came and shot and did not put the animal down. I jumped over the 6 foot fence and shot it three times in an actual charge with my S&W Escort I always carried, its’ nose was at my feet when it hit the ground.

That was the last high fence hunt I went on. 😆

Hunting in a high fenced area is like fishing in a stocked pond…no skill required!

seems that the hunting shows have become more and more like the ” reality ” shows. staged. i’m waiting for the day the editor forgets to photoshop out the collar and lead that keeps the buck in a 50 yard ” kill zone “. 🙄

Yeah, i stopped watching all hunting shows this year. Probably from now on till they change.

They promote all the EXPENSIVE SHIT (equipment) like everyone can afford a BARETTA 300 win mag scoped with a Swarovski 10-50x50mm (lol) and custom built NOSLER ammo assembled just for the hunter who’s on tv. And of course the host of the show successfully shoots the biggest buck on the planet in 10 seconds flat. Its ALWAYS the BIGGEST buck anyones ever done seen…lol.

And when its a bad shot they always say……..”GOOD SHOT”!

Money talks and that’s all there is too it.

Hunting to me, requires skill.

I do NOT envision hunting as sitting on your ass somewhere waiting for a animal to come to a feeder that you have set up ever so carefully to have a perfect shot.

I think its crazy to pay someone to take you hunting.

ALot of “hunting” is popping animals.

Which is fine, but dont call it hunting

High Fence hunts = “shooting” game animals, not “hunting” game animals, period.
