Q:

Just in: my new R5 long

It’s a 25 cal. I’ll bet that you didn’t see that coming!

Sorry for the crappy pic! I don’t have Piter’s skills or equipment!

Brian tried to get Ed to send him some single shot 25 cal. R5’s but, Ed wanted to send all of them to Russia.

Then Kdog started his email and PM campaign to Ed and Brian to have Ed send some 25 cal single shots to the US.

Ed relented [maybe to shut Kdog up] and sent Brian 5 of them. Thanks Kdog!

Wingman gets one, Brian is keeping two and Kdog and I get one each.

I plan to retire in a year or two and I thought that my 25 and 30 cal R3 longs would suit me well in my retirement. I really thought that I was good to go! Then that sneaky Russian comes out with the R5! I watched all of the videos and I was really impressed with the way it was built! But I didn’t want, or need, another 30 cal.

Then Kdog posted that a few 25 cals were coming to the states, I called Brian and ordered his last one! Thanks, Kdog, for making me spend another $1930 on another “BB Gun”!

After buying 7 new Edguns, this will be my last one! Maybe!

Brian did a super job of boxing and sending it!

I really happy with the well built, fit and finish of the gun but; I’m a little butt hurt that that cheap assed Ed didn’t include a soft case with a $1930 gun!

I thought we were talking about OldGoats new R5 :biggrinn:

Uh, I would prefer to take into consideration the oppinion of Americans who is aware of the situation in their country, sorry for that, dear Pablito. It remidns me as you’ve tried to proof to UK users that Lelya was illegal in their country ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh, I am sorry, I just remembered it wasn’t you, it was Pippo, though sounds the same, like you are clones from Eastern Europe ๐Ÿ™‚ No offence, I am very positive for both of you and consider your oppinion as very important to me, but not in this particulary case ๐Ÿ™‚

I am very sorry to break up the conversation but I doubt that I will be able to answer you something here for next two weeks, will be fully busy at IWA, sorry for that…

Good Old Ed,

always the victim of somebody, Eastern Europe clones, Pippo or whoever is not in line with you  .

Please don’t feel attacked, we are discussing about possible silencer restrictions and their impact on pcps and not specifically about Edguns.

Just please don’t tell people Edguns are safe because you simply don’t know, nobody knows at this stage.

Works maybe in Russia but not here in the US.

If the device is able to deafen even only one single shot then it is a silencer.

Plastic, paper, etc doesn’t matter.

Remember “One shot one kill”.

First I doubt you are living in USA, thus I doubt you are aware how it works in USA

Second — in this case the Cola bottles should be considered as ready to use silensers ๐Ÿ™‚

Well Professor Ed I don’t know where and when you got your law degree but apparently you rusky know better how it works in the USA.

I know from professional experience that very often people don’t understand the meaning of “illegal”.

All depends on the legal definition. IF “Cola bottles” will be declared “illegal items” as such then no more legally owning of Cola bottles regardless of their intended use.

But I understand that your interest is to tell American Shooters that nothing will change so you can continue to sell your bargain 1930 USD guns and if things go wrong who cares as long as you have done your business.

As soon as they will get their inch they will take a mile, just wait and see.

Actually personally I’m in favor of a more restrictive gun control, just keep things effective and straightforward and not just forbid because public opinion calls for this.

Actually if you screw a Coke bottle on to your barrel it would be considered a violation. If you go on you tube you can see lots of examples of oil filters screwed on a gun to silence them. To do that legally you must purchase and register an adapter that fits between the barrel and the filter.

Pablito, airguns are NOT firearms and the federal firearms code excludes them from any silencer restrictions. About 6-8 years ago, I had 2 BATFE agents that knocked on my door and woke me up. Some real piece of work, (asshat at least!) turned me in for making firearm silencers, during my lunch time at work. I showed them that I was making replacement baffles for my R2.5 22 cal Airgun and that I didn’t own a firearm.

After they saw what I was doing, they wanted to know why they were called since airguns weren’t firearms and the firearms laws didn’t apply to them? I told them that Mr. Asshat first tried to get me fired from work, for making firearms silencers, and when that didn’t work, he called the local BATFE office.

One of the agents then told me “it sounds to me that you need to kick his fucking ass”!! I told them that the guy is 20 years younger than me, about 100 pounds heavier, mostly blubber, and that I had offered him a free of charge ass kickin at a time and place of his choosing. That offer got me another visit to HR for threatening a worker at work. I explained that it wasn’t a threat, just a friendly offer.

Sorry about the silencer BS, I’m still a little butt hurt over the whole deal!

You should make that offer happen as long as you are in time :8:

Now what would have been the situation if you owned a firearm but you really were only making baffles for your airgun? How could you prove this?

The day that Uncle Sam Trump decides to take my black rifles and makes owning silencers illegal I will have to choose between my hunting rifles and my pcps because they can’t live anymore in the same place.

Hope though this never happens :sadn:

Lower v0 to 880-900 and shoot again with regular Kings. I would not expect anything spectacular from Heavies.

Hi guys. Thanks for the kind words! I’m still alive and kicken,I think!

Bogman, my R5 has 6.35 (25) No191 on the left side of the breech block and some Russian words and 300 (bars?) on the right. Ahead of that, it has that it is one of 407 guns in the limited edition.

It also has a QR code that links to the manual. Nice manual, by the way!

Kris,I have posted pics of initial groupings with 25 grn pellets on another forum going over 1000fps as received from Edgun West.Yes i wasn’t impressed with the initial results but let me see any gun shoot these same pellets going at that speed and see how it shoots.Thats the beauty of Ed’s creations they are easily worked on and can be adjusted accordingly to improve performance.I did not have any 34 grn pellets to test but there on there way.In the mean time i can adjust this speed down to the 900fps range and will shoot more groups with this particular pellet and see what happens. So by no means am i hitting the panic button on the R5 .25.I did turn the hammer spring down and got this pellet down to 950fps and the groups improved but still are not up to my expectations….I will do some more adjusting and see what happens.

I do have some 34grn heavies on order and will see how they shoot as well.Yes i have no problems posting the groups i shoot so others can see and know what to expect. It is what it is.

I would buy such in a multi shot version, the trouble is all targets I have seen so far online show really bad groupings.
Weirdly the owners are very very happy with the performance. It goes so far that they publish these targets. I don’t know but I would reject bad grouping barrels. Instead they rejoice in the new ownership. Probably it is the denial: if one spends 2grand on a product it is hard to accept that it can be sub standard.

Sorry it does not make sense to me, people have such low expectations these days
Sorry it just does my head in when someone points at a wide group and says it is fantastic. BULLSHIT!
I am fed up with all the online reviews for the same reason.

I had 3 pcps were pretty good, the fourth had a dodgy bad barrel – got sorted. I know what a pcp can do trust me, are all the same standard or they have not found the right pellet yet lol

Some publish performance at different speed and stuff, all I can say the groups are the same random shit. Clamp it in a vice. If it does not one hole pellet on pellet over a full magazine, send it back if it is not match grade. If they can not fit a $100 match grade in for the money, go somewhere else. there are places when guys spend a full years salary to get a straight shooter, it is quite normal to expect much no?

No this does not only apply Edgun relax, all across the board. it would be interesting to know how many rejects are there in the QC process. If such thing exists – that is. What are the specs for a pass/fail? officially or unofficially? With a quality standard JSB pellet.

1930 USD? :suprisedn:

For a .25 cal? Steeper than the .30 cal? That is insane :angrymob:

Anyway if the bill goes through as it is currently and the silencers will become illegal then the value of our PCP guns will be next to zero.

Good-bye backyard plinking :sadn:

Strange world. A few months back we were expecting a complete liberalisation of silencers and now this ….

The good times are over.

Hi oldgoat,
I’m happy to see you here.
It’s a long time we don’t heard you.
We learn a lot with your experience in the past with Edgun.
Thank you for your vidรฉo about Edgun.

Your contribution in the forum is verry important for us.
Years ago you show us how to open a matador for play with the regulator and change O’rings etc…
Personaly I learn a lot with your expรฉriences and the simplicity of the gun.
Like said ร‰d it’s not the Last gun for you :4:
I wish you many Matador.
