Killing conscience
I was just sitting hear thinking about things to shoot and it got me thinking about what people like to kill the most and why? I my self have never rely shot a hole lot of animals, mainly because my mums a raving hippy and raised my to love all animals, Yet the other side of me wants to shoot the shit out of everything that moves. I find my self staring down the cross hairs of my storm at wood pigeons with the trigger pulled to shooting point, but then a little voise in my head always says “you’ll feel like a cunt if ya do it!”
I know if I shoot it, I have no clue how to prep it for cooking or even if I could?
I shot a pigeon the other day but it was a mercy killing as he was injured beyond repair. I was walking with my partner and kids when she spotted this pigeon chilling in a bush about 2 ft away. I took one look and knew something was wrong, so went into my yard and grabbed a net and box.
As I placed the net on him he dint even budge so I boxed him and took him into my yard, grabbed the storm, opened the box and put one straight through the top of its neck. As soon as he stopped twitching I took a look to see what was wrong with him. I lifted his wing away from his body only to find a huge hole the size of his chest crawling with maggots! needless to say I dint feel an once of guilt.
So who hear struggles with guilt over killing animals and who hear just don’t give a fudge?

That is so freekin nasty!!! so can I asume that most wood pigeons will have worms? My lady mentioned somthing about birds getting worms because they dont chew? could be bull as she does have a tendency to chat shit I’m not sure? 😆
😯 Yuck!!! That thing is almost as big as the intestine… 😯
out… It has been along while since I have shot a bird to check for worms…
Well crap, I found them…That is some disgusting shit right there.. I felt a
little less guilty because I had a purpose…

So what do these little fuckers do to the bird?
Can the kill still be eaten?
I don’t know what it does to the bird. I have hunted these for 30+ years and
never see or heard of this until about a year ago when I found the first one.
No one I know that has hunted them has ever heard of them having
worms and I know a ton of guys that hunt these…
I will not eat them… Who knows what microscopic eggs are lurking around in
that nasty thing… I can not even think about eating them any more…. We
use to eat them by the dozen….

I saw a video a while back of death by decompression chamber (horrible movie about war crimes and experiments) and it was not painless. After screaming for several minutes the guy’s intestines finally came out of his butt. It was really horrible. Can’t imagine anyone thinking it would be painless.
With lethal injection I can’t see there being any pain, unless they use drain cleaner or something.
Look at a heroin od, that’s painless. I have had five or six surgeries and the aneshtologist could have easily killed me by adding just a little too much sleeping drug.
Kind of like MJ’s death.
Like carbon monoxide poisoning, you simply fall asleep forever.
The decompression chamber sounds horribly painful. 😯

I’d bet it’s the same in England. Just like here in U.S., it’s most likely HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW. Here we do it differently in different counties. Some have Dog Wardens, some have Animal Control, some counties sublet the killing to a humane society and others use a combination. I was both a court sworn Humane Agent and County Dog Warden. It’s not a popular thing to publish how or how many pets are killed by the law each and every month. It’s been a long time since I worked that job and they may have gone to using lethal injections. I did those too. The pain an animal goes through is shorter, maybe only a few seconds or so. But, when the animal looks you in the eye and then drops, you feel like an asshole for causing pain followed by death.[/quote]
I hear ya man and without sounding patronizing I feel for ya too, It must have been tough. Its funny what we dont see or look for inside our little bubbles, you can bet ya bottem dollar that now we had this convo I start seeing strays all about the place 😆

And is the decompresion chamber do what it says it does? how does the animal react? sounds aweful!
They could only house so many animals like a very large kennel with daily cleaning and feeding and open to public daily for people to claim their stray pets or adopt (ha, what a misused word). By law the strays had to be kept for 7 days and then could be put down but if there was room for it, and especially one that the dog groomers could make money off of, it would be spared as long as necessary to get it a owner with money to spend on professional(ha) dog groomers.
Yes, the decompression chamber, was converted from a gas chamber to decompression because gas sounded so inhumane. There was a small window so you could make sure the animal(s) were down sufficiently long enough to be dead. I watched as the air was sucked out of the chamber and an otherwise perfectly healthy animal’s eyes got wide and terror was evident. IMO the animals suffered for minutes until their brain was starved of oxygen and could no longer function. Ya know it wasn’t just a matter of no oxygen to breath, the pressure in the chamber was reduced until the animals dropped. I suppose it was like dieing from the bends. Probably the lungs rupturing internally and the blood essentially boiling from reduced atmospheric pressure. Over 100 animals put down per month for the two years I worked there.
All that and I was told not to kill any more feral wild cats with a well placed rifle shot through the brain. Well, one of us that had to do the dirty work must have told the wrong person about a perfect shot being when both eyes popped out. But what can I say other than the truth isn’t always a pretty picture.
I think pet ownership is out of hand in this country. There should be requirements of at least 10 hours of cleaning the shelter cages, followed by viewing 10 healthy animals being put down at the local humane society, then 10 hours of class room and mandatory sterilization of all pets sold by pet stores before the animal is presented for sale.
We have rights until our rights infringe on others including society as a whole. My taxes shouldn’t have to go towards taking care of your stupid mistake of letting your pet have a litter. Responsible pet breeders should welcome licensing and strict regulations that would protect the public from having to clean up some other person’s mess.
Fair enough, Some one has to do it. I could be wrong but I dont think its as bad in england so its somthing that I over look. I have never seen any ferrel cats or dogs the only strays iv seen, I took in till I have got hold of the owner. I dont like cats but would have a dog and I have two children so have no need for pups 😆
As far as the decompresion chamber is concerned I just think its unnesasery, By all means kill the animal but GEE WIZZ theres gotta be a better way. I feel bad for anyone who has to do that to an animal.
Thanks for the info buddy.
Lurker for president!

I don’t think they do…. Like I said, I have never heard of it nor heard anyone talk
about it before…. As far as I know, I am the only one that has ever seen
worms in these things…
