Q:

Killing conscience

I was just sitting hear thinking about things to shoot and it got me thinking about what people like to kill the most and why? I my self have never rely shot a hole lot of animals, mainly because my mums a raving hippy and raised my to love all animals, Yet the other side of me wants to shoot the shit out of everything that moves. I find my self staring down the cross hairs of my storm at wood pigeons with the trigger pulled to shooting point, but then a little voise in my head always says “you’ll feel like a cunt if ya do it!”
I know if I shoot it, I have no clue how to prep it for cooking or even if I could?

I shot a pigeon the other day but it was a mercy killing as he was injured beyond repair. I was walking with my partner and kids when she spotted this pigeon chilling in a bush about 2 ft away. I took one look and knew something was wrong, so went into my yard and grabbed a net and box.
As I placed the net on him he dint even budge so I boxed him and took him into my yard, grabbed the storm, opened the box and put one straight through the top of its neck. As soon as he stopped twitching I took a look to see what was wrong with him. I lifted his wing away from his body only to find a huge hole the size of his chest crawling with maggots! needless to say I dint feel an once of guilt.

So who hear struggles with guilt over killing animals and who hear just don’t give a fudge?

sometimes i wonder if when i die if there will be retribution to pay, my 1st chance to blow away a nice big buck i could not do it the creature was just too majistic, i hope i am past that now, but have not went deer hunting since, i have a differant mind set now about killing and it is if they are big and old good bye, if they are young let em live and play. i have shot a few small rabbits with the night scope but i thought they were rats and couldnt tell the differance.

Man, you haven’t lived until you’ve had a killer pot of Sq. and dumplings!

Yes cats shit in boxes, then cover it with their cute little paws and then get on your counters at night while you sleep.

Go bury your own shit in the yard with your hands and lick your fingers, how do they taste and smell? Make a 6×6 foot box in your bedroom and fill it with kitty litter and shit and piss in it for a week, how is th aroma now?

Cats are filthy fucking animals and the people who keep them in their houses deserve them.

Dogs are a fucking pain in the ass, if you do not have a use for one, like I did, herding cattle, why bother?

And yes when people let them shit someplace other than their own property and don’t clean it up they are as bads as the cat people.

America is way too far in love with their pets.

What really gets me is how these stupid fucking animal lovers make that awwww noise when they see a animal or hear someone talk about their pet. What scipted fucking bullshit.

Now I wonder if this will stir up some shit?

At least a cat can shit in a box, a dog is too stupid to figure that one out.

Or a dog is smart enough to know it can get away with it without penalty. I think it’s a mass conspiracy by the dog union.

You like walking in dog shit? Wow, must take a certain kind of man to like that. πŸ˜†

Same way I feel about dogs. Either pick it up or fuck off! At least a cat can shit in a box, a dog is too stupid to figure that one out.

the way I look at it is this….if it causes a problem ..it dies…..if I can sit on a rock for 30min and lose count of how many I’ve seen…then one or two could stand to be “thinned out “…if it tastes good on my plate…then yes as long as its in season it dies…..but that one brings another question..would I ever poach???? If we were pore and didn’t have the money for food then yes I would poach for meat… have I no..the only kills that make me question the shot is when its a 10ft shot and the rifle is pure overkill but then I only wish I had a pistol 😈

I only feel guilt when it isn’t a clean kill. It doesn’t matter what animal; it must be a quick and clean with little or no suffering. I only shoot pests because of need and not pleasure.

I do enjoy hunting dove with a shotgun. Its incredibly challenging and the dove has every advantage but that’s another thread. Great with bacon and jalapenos.

I grew up killing deer for food and any varmit on our farm, and farm animals when we butchered.

I learned early in life how to butcher and wrap any animal from a chicken to a cow.

Then I lived in a very remote place, the only house in 110 miles that happened to be in a elk herd. I have killed big game by the hundreds. I always spent a little quiet time with my prey and thanked whatever force gave them to me to feed my family.

I have shot every thing in our state from mice to men.

But I have to say the animal I enjoy killing just for the sake of killing is those nasty fucking cats.

And yes I know some of them may be pets, but they should leave them inside to shit and piss in their own houses rather than stink up the outside of mine.

And therein lies the difference between hunting for pleasure, and ‘hunting’ out of necessity…

When I was 12 I got a 761XL and got to be a good shot with it. I shot a bird off a limb at about 25 yards just to see if I could. I felt terrible about that for a long time.

Nowadays, I only shoot what I know I want to see dead and I never have a moments guilt. Being older and wiser, i make that judgement before i pull the trigger or even aim.

Last night I heard a strange sound and I thought maybe someone was trying to breack in. For the first time in years, I pulled out the .357 and had it cocked for a quick, easy single action first shot. It occured to me while I was checking around that I had no absolutely no problem with killing anybody breaking in… felt kind of odd. It must have been the wind or something else as the house was safe but the realization that I was fully prepared to shoot first has lingered.
