Q:

Knowing what you now know, where would you start………..

………with Air Force rifles?

Of course, I want a rifle that will do it all 🙄

I’m looking for a hunting rifle that will have double duty as my kid’s plinking and Hunter Field Target gun.

Based on what I’ve read here on the board, I’m thinking that the Condor is the most versatile platform.

Is it correct that the power of the rifle is derived from the tank and valve/top hat configuration?

If this is so, then switching to the micro meter tank makes it into a docile basement plinker, right? Are there other changes required besides a barrel change and tank change?

I would like to start out with a tuned, shrouded Condor in .22 for hunting.

Then my next purchase would be a .177 barrel and micro meter tank.

Then the .25. I’m assuming that this barrel would require it’s own shroud, correct?

I know this is all old hat to you guys that have been around for a while, but it all seems to run together to me. Thanks for all your help and all input is welcome.

Condor is winning. 🙂

It’s funny how the one gun that is famed with having more issues than both talons is winning in popularity. I guess half the fun is making them work though right. 🙂

Not the Hutterites or Will Smith please!! Damn I knew this new advanced technology would get me in trouble I am off to the Bat Cave!

Agent 86 out

Seriously I love my .25 Polygonal Condor still testing but I do know those 42 grain EJ’s are heavy hitters on metal rimfire spinners at 55 meters.

My .25 Condor again:

Randy; Your post hit a nerve. Expect a visit from men in ill fitting black suits. AKULA

Condor .25 for me, please. But then again, I’d also love to have either a .22 Daystate or Theoben with a rimfire supressor added.

Yes it is Red Ryder .50 hybrid thank you!

I use the GPS for engaging targets out of sight over the earth’s curve got the idea from a WW2 sea Battle however the recoil keeps making the GPS fall off. I am about to solution it with more advanced composite tape.

I am hoping to leak this technology to the North Koreans and make millions!!!

I recently watched Team America World Police and I tell you those North Koreans are up to no good but if I can make a buck I will by selling to them, sorry guys!!!

Randy

It’s a sick, sad world. The ‘Red Ryder’ has been sullied from its pristine inception.

I think your mod is both cool and an abobomination. Ha! Well done! ALULA

Where is the roll your own category? 😀

Is that Red Rider a 50 caliber?

hahahahah…! thats awesome, Randy! I love it!

Just finished my Red Ryder Winter build project, runs on CO2 for rodents and .223 for Coyotes!! Still working on the Optics mount.

But as many keep saying I prefer to do a good job the first time!

Randy

Oh I will tune any Airforce Airgun for free!!

A pic of my latest highend conversion:

I love my SS and would buy one again. You can turn an SS into a Condor just as easily as you can turn a Condor into an SS.

Talon SS for me, this was my first PCP, and I did a lot of research before I traded my HW 77 for it. I chose if for it’s versatility, mine came with both a .177 and .22 barrel and scuba clamp. I added a 24″ .22 barrel, then a Blodnob valve. With Sean’s valve, I truly have a “do it all” rifle. I can go from MicroMeter to Condor+ power just by changing barrels and valve inserts. If Air Force incorporated Sean’s valve design, they could sell ONE rifle, and let the customer decide what they wanted when :-). I could go .25 if I wanted, but I just don’t see any reason, the vast majority of my shooting is at paper or paint balls. They’re just as dead at 10 fpe as they are at 100, and it’s a lot cheaper to kill them :-). Later.

Dave

Well if I had to choose between length and quietness, I’d chose the quiet gun.

So putting a .177 barrel that’s shrouded/extended on a condor tanks is not an option?

Does anyone make a shroud for an 18″ .177 Talon, sort of an extended SS?

Paul

Yellow Ninja has the answer! Red Ryders all around! This is a great place to start with kids. Thank you, Y

Y, Don’t let it go to your head. We’re still reeling from your *#$%@&* responses from the old site. You seem to have mellowed with age. AKULA

I’d stick with my red ryder and save myself a lot of aggravation from my wife.

Depends on what you want to do with it. I have a SS and a Condor. Both do very different jobs. My Condor is configured in .25 with no shroud or mod at the moment and is a loud monster. My Talon is in .177 and has an 18 inch barrel on it. Fairly quiet with a receiver extension on it, but I know I can move to a 12 inch barrel and baffle the frame and have it VERY quiet.
