Q:

Lama’s new toy!

Woo! My birthday a few days ago, second ammendment is still there, and life is great. Decided to celebrate with a new gun. 🙂

Kel-tec plr-16. I’m going to go shoot it sometime, just have to find a break in work. .223 handgun, should be exciting. Supposed to be extremely loud. I can’t wait. 🙂

It’s a beauty, that’s for sure.

quote Mr-lama:

I suck with a handgun. I got this one to teach me to shoot. It’s very big for a pistol, it’s 18.5″ long and weighs 3lbs. Big. But it’s really not hard to hold up with two hands.

Maybe its just me… but wouldn’t it be better to start with a .22lr pistol or something?

Nice Kel-tec Lama. 😀 Wish we could get them in Cali. 😥

LOL, nice, yeah, it will be loud as hell. I had a TC with 14″ barrel with a muzzle brake. Folks would cry if they had the bench next to me at the range. You wont be able to add a stock to that due to the length of barrel. Dont even get funny and play around with the idea. You would get busted just as fast as if you through a silencer on it.

One thing you will like, it wont kick at all. No more scope eye for you ). A big heavy pistol like that isnt to bad once you get used to it.

You are aloud to own a hand gun at 17 where you live 😯 ? I live in the wrong part of the country. 😥

nice “toy”, I’m sure you will enjoy it. Only “problem” with semi-auto .223s is their appetite for ammo. You will want to start goin to gun shows looking for deals or buying in bulk. either way not cheap but better than WM or other retail. I’ve got an AR setup sniper style, bull bbl, big scope, bipod, etc and love it just don’t get to shoot it much. Amazing though, 1/2″ groups at 100yd no problem with good ammo.

Ive shot .223 in a 10″ and 14″ TC Contender, yes it was extremely loud and the ball of flame was about 15″ with rifle loads.

Once I made up handloads, the 14″ barrel shoots 50gr into less than .5″ at 100yards around 2950fps.

Then the bark was still loud, but managable.

The 10″ barrel was too inefficient to make any full power loads work in it. Could group well at 2500fps though.

work does suck……… 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳

Only good range is an hour away. 🙁 Working sucks. 😛

right on!!!!! looks like fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

shame on you, havent shot it yet………… 😯

Can’t hook a stock to it, it’s stuck like that. I guess you shoot it more as a pistol, with two hands, it’s pretty heavy for one hand. Supposed to be pretty accurate. I might not be the best one for group sizing, seeing as how I suck with a handgun. I got this one to teach me to shoot. It’s very big for a pistol, it’s 18.5″ long and weighs 3lbs. Big. But it’s really not hard to hold up with two hands.

I like this one a lot more than most of the other .223 pistols. They are ar-15’s that have no stock, but the way the bolt and stuff works it has a 5″ long tube that comes out of the back. Never cared for the ar bolt system anyway. That tube makes it look ugly and awkward. This one went comletely away from the ar-15 bolt system and they made their own. I like the looks of it a lot more.

It feels wierd. It’s almost comletely plastic. (glass reinforced polymer) It’s obviously a sturdy plastic, doesn’t feel cheap in the least, but it isn’t like my other guns. It’s definately best it’s made out of this stuff, if it was something else this thing would probably weigh a ton.

Interesting. So do you shoot it as a pistol, or a carbine? Looks a bit big as a pistol. Are there provisions for a shoulder stock of any sort?

Looking forward to seeing how it’ll group. I’d reckon with such a short barrel, it will be a bit loud!

Nice piece!

😀

.223 shouldn’t kick as bad. Just gotta make sure I hold on to the gun. 😛

That looks great.

Hope you dont dent your forehead again 😛
