Seriously, I believe Ville has a point! The chrony utilizes light, and a measurement of distance between two points, to determine the speed of the pellet. I honestly don’t believe the color of the light, pellet, or magazine, will have any appreciable effect on pellet speed. Of course that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try and report your results to the forum members!
Secondly, what kind of chrony are you using? You mentioned you hadn’t “pulled it out yet”…which leads me to wonder if you have one of the new incorporated chrony’s that are built into the gun! If so, I believe you are wise to leave it in place for at least 700 shots! In fact, if it’s reading accurately…why pull it out at all??? Seems like you would be asking for problems.

that was sarcasm, Ville! Truth is I haven’t even pulled out the chrony yet. I’m forcing myself to wait until I hit at least 700 shots.
I don’t think any Chrony will show any difference whether the mag is colored or not 🙂
Can confirm, this mod may be highly complex but it does work. I used yellow for “caution” and red for empty and those colors seem to function as well. Have not had a chance to chrony the gun since mod was completed, will report back…

can recommend it to anyone.
just make sure you don’t put too much paint on. I overdid with nail finish so the magazine is not cycling/wont rotate. so had to thin it down.

Wal-mart has white acrylic paint in the crafts section for 50 cents that washes up with water.

A handy “mod” for those who hunt with their Vulcans. Not needed for me though since i only do target shooting.
