Lelya problem
Today while shooting I noticed one of the 2 ball bearings is missing out of the action. Don’t know how this happens, but now I have to deal with it. I need the bearing and the spring under it. I guess it’s time to find out how good the Edgun support is.

Wingman , and Hemm you are both 100% correct if Ed really wants to survive in the Airgun business he is going to have to sublet a
Parts Department out to someone he can trust to handle all replacement parts for all the guns he makes period . As of now he is
getting too bogged down trying to fix gun part problems of past guns that he has made and still trying to move ahead with producing
and putting new guns on the market . One man with three or four workers isn’t going to work out very long , eventually the business
will fail because too little too late will not accommodate the buyers and they will end up going else where to buy because they got
too fed up waiting for better customer service that never happened . My wife and I have run our own business for over the last 25 yrs.
and have seen too many ONE MAN Businesses go under because they felt that they had to run the whole show , when a customer says
enough is enough generally they will never come back and do business with you ever again and by word of mouth regardless how great
you where from the start the power of discord from unhappy customers will stop many new customers from doing business with you .
If you own your own business it really must be ran properly with 100% in the customers interest if you truly want to succeed which is
how my little love and I run our business .
FROM : THE BIRDMAN
My Master WingMaster,
as usual and always golden speech and information ,,, great post :8: :8: :8:
this is the only and only point that everyone can complain against Edgun company and Eduard himself, i really hope Eduard think and work on this point seriously ,,,because having spare parts in stock is really important as much as having guns in stock ,,, no less no more,,,
KIA and Hyundai cars are become very popular in my oily country only because they have all spare parts,,, while there are a lot of choices …
if Ed ever run his spare part shop,,, he should go like you explained ,,,different employee and email address and full independence ,,,, otherwise he will fail for sure,,, because you shouldn’t take everything yourself ,,, you should put a structure organizational for your company future if you want to go ahead more!
same from Here Ed,, ,, because you are a good man and helped me every time ,,, ,,, and some time i waited for long time to get an email respond ,,but i understand that you are busy…
Thanks for the post wingmaster, I was thinking about the drilling and set screw fix myself. I think your tool you made is exactly what Edgun uses, I can see the “ring” impression around the hole on mine. Thanks again great information.
Great Wingmaster ! :8:
“Edgunells” (Like Br@wnells) 😀
Its not just the Lelya detents Veles and matadors are subject to it too..
I have made myself a special tool punch that has a 2.8mm internal hole the captures the ball and spring and holds it in place as the outer rim is pressed and peened slightly.
On the matador mag retaining detent in the action it is a little more tricky as it is a hard position to access and it is the spring end that is punched. once the ball falls out the front there’s not a lot you can do to peen it over. I have fixed these in several ways, you can carefully drill the hole out slightly larger for a 3.1-3.5mm bearing leaving the last lip at 3mm to retain the new larger ball or drill and tap it for a plunger type grub screw which I prefer as it is then adjustable for tension.
If your local Edgun dealer was trust worthy and worth his weight in salt he would have all theses service tools and could sort any other possible issues for you or at least out source the more technical work to a more capable engineer. Parts supply from Ed has always been slow right from the beginning of his exporting enterprise, as an Edgun agent this has to be taken into account for any warranty work, as you will be left trying to deal with angry customers if you dont sort the issues yourself. Lets hope Eds “NEW” back up and parts service website comes through because the current affair is just painful to put it polity.
Should you chose to get a new part anyway, I have no doubt if you email Ed directly (not through this forum) (let me know if you want his address) he will send you a new breech block directly from Russia, he may not even charge you for it but the problem stems from if he doesnt have this part in stock you could be waiting over a year till the next CNC run..
I would love to see an Edgun parts department run by someone who’s job it was solely to make sure all parts were always in stock (new and old) meaning making extra parts other than just for the production of guns and had their own email address/website that didnt mean waiting for Ed to respond to emails or have the time in his busy day to send stuff out. Ed, if I lived closer to you I would do this job free of charge just to see your business move ahead globally and remove the stain of “slow/bad service” from your company for good.
As always Kind regards Wingman
I bought the gun used, Ive personnally put 2500 rounds thru it. Not sure how many the origional owner shot. I have the ball and spring, no problem finding replacements. It’s a concern the way you have to ping the lip of the hole while holding the ball and spring in place. Apparently not to uncommon of a problem with the Lelya. I would like to know how Edgun does this at the shop. Ed please respond!!
haven’t noticed that problem on my .20 Lelya but I don’t have a ton of shots thru it. here’s a link to 3mm chrome ball bearings. 100 for 5 bucks.

Your right about that, I’m waiting to hear from Ed before I do anything.
That may be a long wait, he is a busy man!
But if you fail to repair and instead damage the gun further then no warranty anymore.
Good luck!
What I consider is the long wait time and cost of shipping, Send it back and it could be months or years before I see it again. Since I now see this is a common problem with the Lelya. It can happen frequently, so I might as well get good at learning the repair tecnique. If it could be repaired here in the US, it would be different, but the gun would have to be shipped to Russia and back. for service. Hell it could even get stolen by customs. The springs and ball bearings are very cheap. I still would like to hear from Ed and see how he installs them on a new gun.
Don’t know how it works in the States but normally it is the date on the invoice (purchase date) that commands if the item is still covered by warranty or not.
I own many things I’m not able to repair myself but even if I can I prefer a factory fix or replacement if there is the warranty simply because it is their job and because I have paid for this.
I believe it you can’t fix your PCP yourself, you shouldn’t own one. I really just wanted to know How the bearing stays in the hole before attempting a repair. I bought the Lelya used from Keyser Soze, so I assume the warranty is no good for me.
While Wingmaster having a fix for everything as usually why would you wait for Ed reading your post, why not contacting him or the dealer directly?
Il you haven’t “tinkered” with the piece then you should get it fixed properly and this is what the warranty is meant for.
:2cents:
I have repaired a few of these, the ball is a std 3mm that you can buy at your local hardware store, I keep a bag of spare ones in my tool box.
there are a few ways to fix this but I have found what works best is getting someone to hold the bearing and spring in with a flat blade screwdriver while you stamp 4 very small opposing dots with a dot punch close to the edge of the hole the bearing will stay in there.just very gently or the bearing will sit too low.

Edgun will never have a proper customer support and I explain you why.
“Edgun Industry” is still run as a “One Man Show” not because the guns are benchmade by one man (actually they are only designed by Ed) but only because all the money has to go to one man.
Some blind businessmen see the employees only as a cost and not a benefit to the organisation and its services.
If you look to how the business is organized in Edgun you will notice that everything is considered as “as long as it lasts” and when it finishes then it’s over and Ed will switch to manufactur underware or whatever else.
Don’t expect too much, like a proper customer service for example, because Ed isn’t going to make any investment if he won’t be sure to get two dollars in return for every dollar spent in short term and customer support and customer satisfaction is a long term investment that doesn’t fit with the “as long as it lasts” business vision.
Ed is lucky that many of his customers at a certain point instead of waiting for a repair they start to fix the guns on their own.
If all of his customers having problems with their guns would claim a warranty fix or replacement then his business would already be gone by now.
