Q:

Lelya problem

Today while shooting I noticed one of the 2 ball bearings is missing out of the action. Don’t know how this happens, but now I have to deal with it. I need the bearing and the spring under it. I guess it’s time to find out how good the Edgun support is.

That kind of arrangement relies on a slight crimp on the hole. You can probably do it with a circle punch just a little bigger than the hole, but too little and the ball will come out again; too much and it might not stick out enough. The matador has a similar spring-loaded locking ball for the bolt shaft.

Thanks for checking, I was afraid of that! There must be a tapered sleeve, you cant put a spring and ball in a hole and expect it to stay without a taper or restriction. I think I’m screwed on fixing this. It still locks up with one ball bearing, but it will fail eventually too. I sent Ed an email hopefully he will answer.

Well, good news. I took a magnet and worked over my shooting bench area and found the tiny spring and ball bearing. Now I just need someone to tell me how it stays in the hole. I havent tore the gun completely down yet, but I’ m sure it is installed from the top. Has any Lelya owners tore theirs down and seen a set screw under the spring and ball bearing

I checked mine and have not find any access to the ball and bearing. I guess Pressing those in is the only way, but don’t know how to keep them there.

Hemn is right. I have the same experience.

I was hopeing the ball bearing and spring fell out from the bottom because a set screw that held it in place came loose. But now I think the bearing is some how pressed in from the top. If this is the case, the hole the bearing sets in had to become enlarged, so a new ball bearing will fall out too. I think because of the way you have to “snap” the action shut to avoid blo back has caused the issue. Not sure how to fix this, without replacing the whole breech. I hope Ed reads this and offers a solution.

That is disappointing. Can you post a close up picture of that bearing
