Very true. Nice group with the Lelya!

I have high hopes for the 250mm barrel in the Leshiy, to me the 350mm is too long and too much compromise for compactness v/s minimal velocity gain. Even the .25cal with the 250mm barrel achieves a very usable 32ftlbs (the same energy as a std .22 matador!) which equates to 15.8ftlbs at 100yars with kings so it will still flatten any small critter at 100y if you can hit it.
I think this short little toy would be great in .177 too, the shot count would be better and the smaller cal will make the best of the shorter 250mm barrel.
Im just really struggling to see any reason to fit a longer 350mm barrel to this thing when the performance is right up there in the shorter 250mm barrel.

Looking forward to when you take it out past 50, many people want to know what it can do at 75 and even 100. And for me it is all about that 35cm barrel 😛

Are there any PCPs out there with high-end barrels that are not accurate past 50 meters?

Yes, generally low powered ones that dont have a fast enough twist rate to keep a pellet stable at lower velocities/long range.
I would say Leshiy with its shorter 250mm barrel and small plenum/reservoir will fall into this category at least in .25 cal at its 730-750fps.
The 250mm .22 may get a somewhat acceptable group at 100 yards.

I run a 450mm .25cal 1-16″ twist BSA barrel (same twist as Eds) on my Steyr as a close range garden gun shooting at 680fps @ 26ftlbs which is a single hole group shooter at 50 yards but after about 75 yards it really falls apart. You can actually see the pellet spiral wildly as it slows up. At 100 yards… forget it..you be lucky to hit the side of a barn.

With the 250mm Leshiy .25cal barrel fitted (755fps MV) it will retain about 530fps at 100 yards with JSB kings which is the same velocity my Steyr retains at 75yards where I can see a very dramatic change in stability on paper.

With the 350mm .25cal barrel (820fps MV) the kings will retain about 580fps at 100 yds which means in the right hands and conditions with a good long range scope you theoretically should be able to get it grouping inside 2 inches or so at that range.
Just fit a longer barrel you say? Ed tested a 480mm .25cal Matador std barrel on the leshiy and it maxed out at 860fps (40fps higher than the 350mm barrel) so the Leshiy is limited by its reg pressure, plenum size and possibly hammer weight not its barrel length.
Yes all of these things could be modified but once again you would just be straying further away from Leshiy’s original concept ending up with another FrankEDstein with the shot count of about 8 shots.

In .22 the 250mm Leshiy shoots the 18.1gr JSB at 850fps which retains 600fps at 100 yards so should be quite capable of good groups.
The 350mm .22 barrel should be even better.
Personally the idea of a very compact 250mm barrel in both cals shot inside 70ish yards on small critters is far more attractive and fun for me.
For everything else I have the Matadors.

That’s true but each barrel is different.
My .25 Lelya schoots the Kings with 210m/s (689fps) and i have a very good flight further then 100 yards.
I have chackt it with the scope cam.
Here is a 10 shoot group from yesterday at 100 yards.

Sorry didn’t take into consideration the .25 cal because of being a “hunting” caliber and most western europe countries don’t allow hunting with an airgun.

Got one of those few years ago, still have it. At that time, they were at a headphone meet, advertising is as keeping your earphones in 🙂

Great post Wingman, love it when you do that. I’ll be looking at your results when you get the Leshiy, hope they are promising. If it turns out there isn’t much difference in barrel length I might give in and get the 250mm .22 version instead of waiting for the 350mm versions to be available again. But I heard that there are still 35cm .22 barrels left, just not any extension kits. They were supposed to be available some time this month, so maybe I’m in luck 😉

Great find Keyser!
I was just wondering how I’d carry pellets in the field for the new .30.
Thanks

So I am to assume this gun is accurate past 50? No thanks, I’d rather see it for myself

Want to see some 10 shots one hole groups at 250 meters? Or 150 or 300 meters?

Just tell me the distance and I will post some pictures :fishing:

How are you guys planning on storing your pellets? When reloading in the field that is. One of these around your neck?

Personally never been a fan of pellet holders.. just keep them in my pocket.
