Q:

Long Range shooting with the Vulcan .25

Well I have an update for you guys, this is not really a review more a show and tell so I thought it best to put in the general section. I have had the Vulcan for about 6 weeks (my initial review is in the review section). This Vulcan is how she came from the factory, that is I have not tuned the gun. As a manner of fact I have not even cleaned the barrel. I don’t usually mess with guns that are shooting accurately. This is my first bullpup that I have owned that hasn’t need some sort of tuning to make the gun perform All of them required at least a HST adjustment and most required a tuning of the regulator and HST to get the gun to perform the way I expected.

The specs of the shoot:
Vulcan .25
Rate of twist 17.7 right handed
JSB 25.39 thin skirt
unsorted pellets
940 FPS
SWFA SS 12X42 mil-quad reticle MIL/MIL
20 MOA Nightforce one piece mount
67 degrees
wind 8 MPH southwest
Barometer 29.96
1200 feet above sea level
Target 3 degree slope
Target size 8″ diameter bullseye about the size of a dime

Distance #1 150 yards
Vertical correction +8.1 MRAD
horizontal correction -3.8 MRAD
Distance #2 200 yards
Vertical correction 14.2 MRAD
horizontal Correction -5.2 MRAD

My first target was set at 150 yards. I have been shooting this gun at 100 yards getting comfortable with how it jumps and feels. There is a little technique to shooting the vulcan because of the gun’s size and weight it tends to jump a little. Putting the right “squeeze” on the gun took some time to figure out

150 yards. When I saw this target up close I knew she could hit at 200

A view of the target to my table

Looking down range 200 yards

Here is the 200 yard target. I shot three groups. The wind at my table was lying to me. I could see the mirage moving right to left but I was getting a left to right wind at the bench. So I took a shot, I hit left of the bullseye and I began walking the pellets to the center. I was amazed at how predictable the pellet was at this range. After making the horizontal correction to the right I shot three times at the bullseye and I got what I thought was a very respectable group. The last group consisted with a single marker shot to make a new bullseye( bottom right) and then followed by 2 shots that almost
touched the first hole At this point I decided to pack up my things and head home. I know I may never do that again.

The hell with the gun vice, goner can you post a link where I can order one of those? Probably can afford it :angrymob:

Mmmmmm ….

I Have a dominant au-pair… .. Which is nice..!!!

..

quote Leadbetter:

You’ll have to hold the joystick in your non dominant hand while firing is the only trick I’ve found with it.

That breaks the deal for me . I have two dominant hands.,

Or you can nearly double the price and have one next week

If you really want one I can check around for you at a match I’m going to Saturday?

These are groups I shot at 300 yards with my .22br

Caldwell front bags

Farley coaxial front rest

All the groups were fired with the same load combo. Pretty big improvement for me.

Dear fellow Lelya sufferer
Where do I get one of those.

You really need a farley front rest keyser!
Joystick controls are da bomb yo !

Awny
The Vulcan wants to shoot high to the right. The harder I would squeeze the pistol grip the worse the gun jumps to the right and up. So now I use thumb pressure and I pull on the left side of the forend. That keeps the gun neutral when I shoot.

Amazing little gun! Wow can’t wait to get mine

Impressive shooting!
Keyser, can you elaborate on the grip on the gun to control its jump behavior?

So – when i told these Guns can shoot i wasn´t just on my usual Herring Trip. ? What a load off !!! 😀 😀 😀
