Long Range Testing of BSA .25 Barrel.
Finally got to strech the legs on my new .25 BSA 24″ barrel.
Range was 97.5 yards.
Wind about 5-10 mph in gusts.
31 grain H&N Baraccudas at 980 down to 930 fps.

VERY pleased with the barrels performance.
As with any unregulated air rifle, its vital you know how the poi changes as you shoot through. For me, every 4th shot you have to adjust up a little. Keeping count in the field is more easily done by using a pellet holder.
Crown was lovingly done by Lang, very nice it is too 8)
Anyhoo, I know the barrel now and how she shoots. Into the fields today and see how the bunnies like it !!!

Was that 980 fps down to 930 fps over 5 shots or 10 shots or 15 shots?
Velocity down to 930-950 to start with might give you better accuracy. Just a thought. But 1.5-2″ at almost 100 yrds aint bad at all.

This BSA barrel seems to like to spit them out faster than normal, getting tighter groups when shooting high 900’s than low 900’s….
Thinking about turning it up to shoot 975 up to 1020 ish and back down again… We will see…….
Pablo likes the breech o-ring reeaal loose. I’d already cut the breech to what I figured was the correct dimension (and it’s working perfectly on my rifle) but he had a feel and said “too tight”. We ended up too loose.
If he hadn’t of gotten me fucked out of my skull on his smokables I’d have had enough sense to say “NO, NO MORE!” But I was very very caned. 😆

Don’t do it! If you get a lathe you’ll soon be consumed with the set-up and then an apparently endless number of attachments and cutters and and projects that need one more bit or skill. You’ll end up as grumpy as Lang! 😆 😆

Nice to have multiple machinests working for you! Maybe you’re at a point where just fiddling with the oring size and composition can fix the issue.
Yup, pretty sure its the barrel end oring.
Got the breech section thined down to stock AF size as the previous set up was blowing too much air. These breeches can really be a pita. Lang was turning the breech section of the barrel down for me tiny bit by tiny bit. Too big, too big, too big… Fuck, too small…….. 😆 (my error of judgement, not his 🙄 )

The bushings and mounting were also done by me, which is why you’re getting 2″ groups instead of 1″…I made sure the run-out of the bore was set laterally instead of vertically. Tee hee. 😛

Good grouping! no doubt .25 is the best for hunting.
