Looking for a .22LR pistol $200-$300
So far I’m on the fence between the Browning Buckmark and the Beretta NEOS DLX with blue inserts. Really like the look of the Beretta.
Academy also has the S&W 22A for around $200 and the Walther P22 at about $330. I think there were a few others at around the same price range but don’t remember the makes/models.
I don’t need compact. Just decently straight shooting with a decent trigger. It would be great if it could cycle SUB sonic ammunition. From a pistol that may be a stretch.
What are your experiences with these pistols?

I’ve had a buckmark “silhouette” (10″ heavy bbl version) for years and it is still one of my favorite guns to shoot. Super accurate, great trigger.
You cant go wrong with one. They are super easy to work on and mod yourself. If your not comfortable doing the work yourself there are an endless list of aftermarket parts available for this line of guns.
No problem lama. Thanks for the eval. Next time I head out of town I’m going to handle the NEOS, Buck Mark, Mark III and also the S&W. I’ll make the decision based on what feels good and also what I’ve read about each one.
Been wanting a .22 pistol for a while. Ammunition is cheap, they’re accurate and have plenty of power really for anything I’d be shooting.
I named my dog Ruger several years ago… never owning a Ruger I just might have to make it official. 🙂

Anyway, the subsonic ammo cycled fine in my s&w. It’s a 22a-1. One shell didn’t quite eject, but the rest did, so I think the brass was messed up. Very accurate pistol. I’d highly reccomend it.

Very accurate pistol. I can group mine off the bench nearly as well as either of my 10/22’s.
I love the Rugers. Ive had about 6 at one time or another and they all were great little guns and very accurate.

I too have a Buckmark, about 20 years old, shoots not so well.
Lucky to hold 5″ at 25yards with anything Ive tried in it.
Maybe its just a bad example, but it was a gift so I kept it.
My best 22LR pistol is a RugerMKII with a 10″ bull barrel. This ones also about 20 years old now. Shoots better than most rifles for me.

It is, by far, my favorite pistol. It cycles sub-sonic rounds just fine. If you want to use a silencer Tactical solutions makes a threaded 4″ barrel for it as well.

The Beretta or a Smith and Wesson or RugerII or III.
Just a nice handling .22lr for plinking, rabbit shooting, etc. (fun…)
I like the way the Beratta Neos feels in my hand. I don’t have huge hands by any means and it just seems to fit as if made for me so I am leaning in that direction. I should look into some way I could try them all out though to make sure I am happy with what I get.
Not in any big rush either. Probably will be a while till I buy one.

I have a Buckmark Hunter was 7.5″ barrel & cut it to 5.5 & threaded it for my silencer AAC pilot , Its very accurate . Iwas shooting coke cans @ 50 yds , so I tried to shoot a golfball @ that range I hit it by the 3rd shot I ended up hitting it a couple of times , & I was using open sights
I also had a p22 It sucked so I bought the Buckmark , very happy
I also had a mkII gov. mod Its was nice & very accurate & you can put the ctc laser grips on it also
