Q:

Looking T.H. setting suggestions for stock Talon valve.

Right now I measured it at .08 from the factory. What are you guys setting yours at? T.I.A.

I’ve adjusted both my TH to fit snug against the breech when the hammer is cocked (no tension). It’s not scientific and hasn’t been run through a chrono…. before the adjustment I would get dud shots and after each shot hits its target reliably.

Just my 2 cents.

My Condor valve was worked on and set by Tony. It’s efficient.

Yes you are correct- I wasn’t paying very close attention! It is a stock talon valve. I think based off what I have seen here with that stock valve and 18 inch barrel I should be able to get a decent string with the Kodiaks in the low to mid 800’s? I was frustrated after adding the barrel that I only gained about 50-60 fps, and speed was all over the place. I am pretty sure it had to do with the loose tophat more than anything else. The condor valve you are using had a workover by Tony, or is it stock?

Mike, don’t worry you’re not hi-jacking. Thanks for the post. You are referring to a Talon valve and Not a Condor Hi-Flo valve right? WOW, one valve is “Set” to .08 another is “Set” to .120 I don’t think the factory “Sets” these valves at all. Guys, stay tuned to this thread. I just filled my scuba tanks, so next chance I get to go out I’ll take the chrony and do some adjusting. Oh btw I have a 24″ .22 Cal. Condor and I want to shoot 21.1 Gr. Kodiaks as close to 950 as I can get WITH a decent curve. I can get way more velocity out of my Tony tuned Hi-Flo valve. But I want to see what the Talon valve can do as far as velocity Vs. air usage and shot count. Tony has my Condor valve working a treat as Pabs would say. I think I’ll probably have to turn my P.W. WAY down, as I don’t want to remove the Condor striker weight. What do you think? Stay tuned, and please guys throw up some more info here. Thanks for reading.

Maw,

Why do you not go past .093? Inefficient air usage? Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack the thread.

Mike

Mine is set at .073, .20 caliber and a 24 in. barrelI get alot of shots and shoot 13.5 grn. pellets, powerwheel at 6 and when I shoot 23 grners. I turn it up to 12. If you want alittle more power and you have a 12 in. barrel turn it out to .085 or .090, I would not go past .093 personally.

Savagesam,

I am new to the tuning stuff and just tried it yesterday- mine was set at 0.120 factory and had worked loose, I turned it down to the recommended .070 and started adjusting. I eventually wound up at .095 giving me what appeared to be the biggest jump. I am shooting an 18 inch barrel in 22 pw at 10, and measured three Kodiaks clocking between 930 and 950 with a 2900 psi fill earlier this evening then had to quit. I think my gun will be a gas hog set the way it is, but I need to spend more time tinkering. By the time I get it figured out I will most likely piss away 5 tins of pellets at this rate!

It is kind of fun though.
