lord altros Regulators???

Works good. My .25 is 24″ and it is shooting in the high 960’s and low 970’s with 1800 psi. I’m going to slow it down to the 930’s with a 1600-1700 psi shim setup. Going to shoot it through my second crony just to verify that the fps is good and then I will slow it down. Made a new shroud like my .308 one and it works good. Got me interested in the .25 again. I have a hard time with keeping interested in a gun that shoots pellets. First it was the .308 but now the .257 just amazes me the more I shoot it. Once I build a shroud for it the othe guns might be in trouble.
As far as price goes it is around $250 for a complete setup plus your tank and valve. It’s a bummer you have the maddog stock. I haven’t found a bottle that would really work yet. Without the stock a 48ci bottle setup is the same length as stock bottle and you get around 45-50 shots.
Hey Doug! Yep, LW hasn’t exactly been consistent the last couple of years.
What length bbl. are you using with the .25 at 1800psi, and how is it doing?
I would love to have a reg that I can use in the MadDog stock. The gun is now Super Accurate! About the only accuracy problem is shifting fps.
I was looking at the modified e-tac reg you did in a thread below. Looks Great! But I’m afraid to ask the cost of such a thing.
Mike
What are you using for a valve to try and get 190 fpe in .25?
I get 200 fpe with .257 but I’m using my .308 valve to do it.
In .25 I have made 170 fpe with 89.5 gr at 925 fps. I get 1004 fps with 70.7 gr.
I have retired my .25 now to a 1800 psi reg gun. Going for quiet tack driver.
Going to probably build another with a true .25 TJ’s barrel. Tired of LW barrels being all over the place on size. I have a chokeless barrel and it slugs .2534″ so I have to size my .257 bullets down for it.
I know what you mean Mist! I have the .25 shooting VERY well, and hate to tamper with it. But——-I just can’t leave things alone.
I will start playing with the .22 when this weather breaks for a few days!
What kind of tank are you using, that gives the right LOP?
I have a .22 Bbl. here 24″, condor bbl. But it is choked. It shoots well with Kod’s, and I really don’t want to cut it up!
I had an 18″ Bbl. in .22, but gave it away. Didn’t think I would ever leave .25 shooting. I should have know better. As Much as I like to tinker! 😆

Mike
Cheers 🙂
I am gonna get the tank details for you. Am travelling and gonna be back after 2 weeks.
The best part is that after installation of the reg with the 400 cc tank (faint memories) the length equates the standard condor tank or maybe 1/2 inch more.
The LOP is just perfect.
😀 yes I do get shotgun groups with the choked barrel.
Now I know the choke removal was perfect as it was done on a lathe and not using a saw.
What I am yet to try is recrowning the barrel and checking the groups.
Never got the time to try that.
Or let say was not patient enough 😉
Let me get back and see what barrel I can spare for you to play with and
Let me try sorting the logistics for the tank as well. (No commitment, but will try)
Please do not hesitate to PM me if I forget.
All my current projects are .25 so am not sure if I would have a
.22 barrel idling.
Keep us posted about your bullets and I have another project with bullets which I am on.
I am working on the .25cal config and aiming for 190 fpe with the hollows.
Let see how it goes…
This condor platform get me crazy for the kind of stuff you can do with it.
Every time I make an accurate rig and swear I am not taking this one apart, you know how it ends.
Ahh! Making a lot of sense now. What size tank do you have? I have been wondering if there was a slightly shorter tank that could be used with the Reg installed that would not be such a long length of pull!
I would love to try the reg. Perhaps in a few months. Medical bills kinda ruff here.
What happned when you tried the choke removal? Did it turn into a shot gun? I would think, well hope at least that it would work with Jerrys Sluggs.
Wish I had a spare bbl. here in .22. All I have is a 24″ condor bbl, that oddly enough, Loves Kodiaks. Never had one that did before. No way I’m cutting it up! 😆
I will be trying the .22 bullets from North American Arms that Ted sent for me to try out in it in the next few days.
Keeping my fingers crossed on them!
Mike
The lower shot count would be because of my greed in power.
I set it to a little more than the max reccomended and found a sweet spot.
I could have gained more fps at a lower regulator setting if the barrel was 24″ in length.
My rig was with the 18 inches .25 barrel and 31gr kodiak so in order to get the max speed I might have overdone the regulator.
I fill my tank to 3250 psi cauz this one I got from UK and its rated to 230 bar max.
Kindly note the capacity of the tank is slightly lesser than the airforce tank and that again explains lesser shots.
Another thing that comes to my mind is the top hat spring I set it to the lowest setting by loosening the brass retainer which holds back the spring under the valve.
If I change that to a stiffer setting then less air would be wasted per shot and I should get another 5 or maybe 8 shots.
The rig is truly ultra compact and I liked its looks
The LW barrels can be really funny.
Most just love the Jsb’s but this rig of mine loves the kodiak match and groups the best.
I have another setup which shoots kodiaks match at 1060 fps and I get crappy
Groups compared to the 18″ barrel setup.
Another key to his rig is to get a tank where you fill to 4500 psi then I am sure your gonna get more than 70 shots…
I loved the Oring trick and the top hat setting and it gave me some great numbers.
It was just a mind block that eventually the o ring would wear and as you know even a 1/4 twist in the top hat setting would change the groups. So the o ring wearing out would change the height by .0x mm and the results would change.
It never reached that stage but with the scientific rule and my excuse to buy a regulator I went in for the regulator. 🙂
My choke removal tests failed with the jsb’s , kodiaks and the jerry slugs.
This could stir a controversy. 😉
Thank you for the reply Mist! Strange tha virtually no one here is using the new reg. It has been like pulling hens teeth to get an answer here. Looks to be a real winner to me.
And unlike the other offerings I have seen here, it isn’t a mile long!
I guess one of these are going to have to be on my to-do list. I am put off a bit by your low shot count though. I am getting apx. 30 at 880-900 with a 2600 psi fill right now, with excelent accuracy. This with nothing more than the rubber “0” ring behind the TopHat and power wheel set to zero. Very little top hat gap.
(Even 30 shoots are very low for a reged gun. It should increase the shot count rather than lower it) 😕 .
I had trouble getting it down this far in .25 with the JSB’s. The Kod’s don’t shoot well out of my .25 at all. The Kod’s shoot great out of the .22 bbl. though.
Next test, .22 solids (Bullets). At a higher velocity. May have to remove the choke!
What fill pressure you filling to Mist?
Mike
Thanks Mistman.
Okay Mike, here some first hand info.
I get 15 consistent shots with the reg maxed out.
I have the condor tuned, running an 18″ barrel in .25 cal
With the reg maxed out and a 31gr Kodiak the average spread between 15
shots were 5fps.
Max was 875 fps and min was 870 fps.
I wanted more power and so stretched the rig to its max. (150 bar)
Did have to adjust the regulator three times to get the perfect setting I wanted.
Note:- The regulator comes pre-set with the most effective setting, But I wanted more power with consistency and so I had to adjust the regulator. Number of shots was not my priority.
All this with the standard condor tank. If you are using a larger tank and a higher rating then that would be a better rig.
I can get one inch groups with the above config for those 15 shots at 100 yards.
Regulator is one contributor to accuracy, and as all know there are other factors too which need to be overlooked to have the rig perfect.
I have made another compact rig which is just 24″ in length. I wanted low power in that for backyard plinking/varminting. So I set the regulator to the lowest setting and I get more than 50 consistent shots in that setup.
Before I forget, yes altros service is great as one of the regs I had purchased had a leak in the gauge. I send him a mail and replacement was on its way the very next day.
No extra $
As I said I don’t have the money to get fixed atm due to some unforseen circumstances and Christmas. I will try in new year with some more money. All good things come to those who wait.
tick,tick,tick—–
Why don’t you post the thread, I thought you were going to do a chrony test for us about three weeks ago.

Shot count isn’t really all that important to me, but the Reg is. A standard AF bottle, or one slightly shorter would work just fine for me!
