Q:

Marauder and Condor Comparisions

Let me state that I am NOT an expert but rather an airgun enthusiast that has learned a lot over the last year or so and can only speak as such.

I have owned and used a Marauder .177 for the past year which is a great rifle compared to the other .177’s I have used and tested. I decided to add a .22 to my collection and purchased one from Tony at Talon Tunes having him tune it for me before taking delivery.

After shooting the Condor at various ranges ( 32 and 59 yards), I could not believe how much better with tighter groupings I was getting with the Condor and it got me to thinking. I am comparing a .177 to a .22 shooting 15.9 grain JSB’s as opposed to 10.5 grain Crossman’s and how much this alone effects the results is better left to someone more knowledgeable than myself. When I have asked “experts” to compare the comparable Marauder and Condor .22’s, I get ” Apples to Oranges” which does not really help much.

I was wondering as I am very interested if anyone on the forum has compared and tested a .22 Marauder with the .22 Condor and what might their observations have been.

Yes ame scope and mounts on my marauder and my condor.
Maruader can sit for a month and spot on. The condor from day to day need to adjust scope a little. If I sight in my condor then hunt I am great if I do not shoot before hunting generally I miss. The condor will hammer them at some distances though! I have never tried some of the real long shots with the marauder. will stretch its legs soon.

22 caliber Marauder 25 yards 17 grains Diablo Exacts No lub on pellets.
All 50 shots hit the same Point of aim at 25 yards. Here is the 50 shot velosity. 2500 PSI tank fill.
#1 829.8fps,,,,#10 858.5fps,,,,#21 841.3,,,,,#31 809.9,,,,,,#50 655.3<<<< All of these shots was in the center of the crosshairs on 25 yards just like I left it some time Back, I’ve been shooting my Airforce guns and have not been shooting my Marauders too often. Now the 25 caliber gets less, and I’ll shoot it maybe tomarrow and see what I get, I’m pretty sure almost positive it wont get 50 shots, Maybe not 40,,, but I’ll see.
All of my Marauders is out of the box accept the little screw that is used to adjust the air flow, you have to take the stock off to adjust it,,, I turned it in and backed it out real delicatly to 4 turns, like the Manufacturer sujjested
That’s all the tunning my Guns has had, and I like my air guns between 800 and 900 FPS in this string of shots I can easily get that out of a days Limit of Squirells 😀 The bottum pressure on the Marauder was 900psi after the last shot. âž¡ I took this gun at 25 yards today and sht a lightening bug off of my target, that’s the little bugs that glows in the dark 😀

Glad to see most are reasonable, not knocking the condor it is alot of punch in a small package. The condor got me started in pcp and impresses me still with raw power. I take the marauder or the daystate out and it is shooting in the same hole day after day and fill after fill. The condor is an awesome air gun for those that like to tweek things. I want to take it out of the closet and shoot a squirrel in the head at 50 yards!

I hadn’t shot my Marauder in a long time, and it was still on target when I shot the 50 shots. And to be real honest, it seemed easier to hold on target, I might try one of those new stubby stocks to see if my Stubby stabelises a little more. The Airforce stuby is IMHO too Light,, But I like it the same.

That’s cool shaggy, i bet the 177 marauder is way efficient, and gets more shots from less air.

my condor wont change much at 25 yards, but the impact will move with the shot string like 1/4″ , here is 10 shots at 50 , 20 shots at 50 , and 30 shots at 50 at same target aim point. no super tune, just fill and shoot out of can , pretty much as fast as i could , cros hp.,, impact moved but not allot.
10 shots

20 shots

30 shots

I shot my 177 Marauder today to see how many shots it got from a Fill, I got 50 shots ranging from 930 FPS to 1130 FPS, the #50 shot was 835 FPS, and the Gun was hitting the same point of aim through the entire 50 shots at 25 yards.
I shot some of those gold raptors and it sounded like a pig getting nutted goiing down field, it was right at 1190 FPS Squeeling like a Raped Ape.
The two I shot at 25 was about 1/4th inch apart but still on the Point of aim.
When I get all my lawn mowers fixed I’ll shoot some with the 22, I think it gets a little less, but still it is a hoss too.

FLARE FLARE 😆

Slayer my condor is always changing impact also, i think it is the huge unregulated tank that is the culprit, where as the maurader has a much smaller tank and has a much smaller shot curve,
its not a huge problem for me , i just step out the back door and take a few shots to make sure of zero before taking that long shot at game, but it does not always have a different impact.

I usually fill to 2000 psi , i topped off and did not shoot the gun but one time every morning for 10 days in a row, and the first shot after the fill was out of the group, which is pretty much always going to happen, then i had 9 shots touching for 9 days and gave up to do other shooting. this was a dime size group ( minus the first shot) at 25 yards leaning in the back door of the house braced against the door and frame. but after 20 shots or so the group impact would change.

I own them both and each has thier use.
Targets to 50 yards my marauder gets the nod every time.
I like the lower scope height and I seem to hit more targets with the marauder. The condor seems to be more accurate at longer distances AFTER I get it sighted in. I find my maruader spot on every time i grab it.
The condor always needs some tweaking and then it groups where I shoot. Some will flare me for this but this is how it has worked for me.
Squirrel within 50 yards Marauder!
trying that 95 yard shot at something give me the power of the condor.
Both guns “stock” tuned by me.

Thanks for your feedback
per your question, my Marauder is stock and it shoots extremely well and I no particular complaints.

some reading for you

there are things that can be done to the maurader to improve groups as with the condor also. have you done anything to the maurader or is it stock out of box.

Thanks for the feedback as I did notice one was wood the other was not while also suspecting that they both fire pellets and use air.

Having clarified that, I was looking if anyone had done any significant test firing and comparison of results between the two

thanks

If I was going to sell my Factory stock condor or my Factory Stock Marauder, I’d have to say any, Mini, miney, Moe.
The Airforce has the most power, but I always set my guns to shoot between 800 and 900 FPS so it’s a toss up. 😀

So exactly what are you looking for?

The differences are obvious in the type and styling of rifle they both are.

Accuracy wise both can be accurate

Power wise Condor wins

The comparison is one is a wood stock deer rifle style rifle vs. an all aluminum take down rifle that is far more powerful.

The biggest similarity is they both use air and shoot pellets. Just about everything else is different.
