Marauders…How are they working out?
I am curious how the new Marauders are working for those of you who have bought one, or have tried someone elses. Please post your positive and negative experiences.
Someone had mentioned that the gun doesn’t come with any provision to fill it…is this true? What does someone need to purchase to allow filling from a scuba tank or hand pump?
It has been compared to the AA 410 series…so, how does it stack up to the 410s?

Well I finally got my Marauder back a couple of days ago. It came with a not that said new barrel, new bolt, and new air guage. They also sent me a free tin of 500 CPHPs. She is firing one hole at 10 meters. Bolt action is so much smoother too. Took a bird with her at 70yds lasered with Kodiak. Oh, I guess the previous gauge was bad because now I can fill her to 3000 without valve lock where as before I could only go 2800.

Good to see your groups thanks. From the looks of it, your gun may be a little more accurate than his right now, but we’ll have to see. He started at 2500 psi, and just kept shooting until the groups fell apart. But this didn’t happen till about 1100 psi! I couldn’t believe the gun could keep shooting straight at pressures that low. 6 mags.
Steve, so far his gun only likes Kodiaks. The CP’s performance is quite odd, he’ll do 4 shots, all in the same little hole, then get a flyer over a inch away. The next group no pellet holes even touch, their kinda all over the place, with no real consistent groups. JSB’s, forget it. Very few Marauders seem to like them. So that’s basically the ‘Big 3’ right there for most guns. While I’m sure he’ll do more testing, I think right now he’s just glad his gun shoots decent with one kind of pellet lol. Afterwards we went straight to the bar to celebrate :18 His next purchase will be a bipod. But yeah I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.
i only have 40 shots filling at 2800psi and at the end of the 40 the presure is 1600psi and poi start dropping but as per the 40 shots group good at 50 yds

Hi Saug, it’s great to hear the follow up story on yoy buddies Marauder. I would love to see see some chrony strings. It would be nice to see a 60+ shot string just out of curiosity. You guys should round up as many different pellets types as possible and see which ones it prefers. People have pointed out before how pellet sensative airguns can be.

Update on my buddies Marauder…
After reeming the baffles, and not seeing any significant results, he took the gun back to Tim, who re-re crowned the barrel, opened up the baffle holes even more, and at the shop, Tim did a test group with it, and gave my buddy the piece of paper the group was shot on. Group looked great, albeit at only 20 ft. So my buddy came by today at my place to shoot some 20 yrd targets. He was anxious like I was to see how it would do after Tim did his thing to it.
What a difference! His groups went from like 2″ @ 20 to about 1/2″ one holers at the same distance. This is with Kodiaks. This was a good day for him, no doubt, and for me as well.
He filled at 2500 psi, and got 60 shots before any significant POI change!
This is at factory settings. He’ll crony it at his place to see what it’s doing. Anyways, I think the gun can do a little better, (accuracy wise) with a tweak here and there, but this is looking far better than where it started, just thought I’d give the update!
It is a step in the right direction for Crossman. But to compete with the Euro guns, they will need to addresess the power and shot count issue.
They are way low on both. And when you try to do somthing about the power, the shot count really dumps. 😥
Wish the new CVT AirWolf wasn’t so damed expensive! 👿

Jumper…the good news is that Crosman has worked hard to create competition for the europeans. Tim at Mac1 tells me that the Marauder is a first rate air rifle. Others have posted on the Marauder forum a mixed bag of results. One guy says that he likes it better than his Rapid. So, I get the feeling that these are just teething problems. I’m sure that Crosman will take care of you and probably sooner than three weeks. Hopefully there will be a few extra goodies in the box for your trouble. Their reputation is riding on every one of you who buys one and then posts to a forum like this one. Your input determines how many they will sell in the future.
I’m told that the engineers are watching these forums, (TAG, The Yellow, and Marauder Forum…did I miss any?) Supposedly, Crosman developed this airgun after watching posts on our forums and listening to what we are looking for. They also have been watching Air Arms clean up. That’s what they are trying to do; they are trying to supplant the european manufacturers. Time will tell. If they work out the bugs and treat us well, they will have succeeded. I’d love to buy an American air rifle that rivals the europeans.
So, have faith brother! And of course, let us know what happens. Crosman, as well as all of us will be waiting to see what you post. 😀

I called Crossman right away and it was in the mail today. I guess another three weeks before I get it back.
I tried Crow Mags, CPs, Kodiaks, Eun Jins, JSB 18s, and RWS HPs, all with horrible shotgun looking patterns. I wish I would have read this post before. Oh, well, we will see what Crossman says about it.
Tim was a pleasure to do business with on a 88 ci C/F tank. I’ve been wanting to get one for a while. 😀

I hear ya Steve. When you get your new Marauder, keep us informed on how it goes. My friend is a machinist, and had done some cool things for my AF rifle, so he’ll have no problems doing those baffles himself, I’ll get back with how his turns out. I’m sure he’ll have a real shooter soon, and so will you.
80, you are not jacking the thread. Complements for those who have earned them are always a good thing. Steve at Pomona Air Guns sold my buddy his S 410 Classic and extras, (+carbon fiber tank). He also had a 3′ fill hose made up for my other buddy who had bought the ERB. They are both leaders in the airgun world. We are fortunate to have them.
Saug, I realize that the rifles are ONLY $1000…but there seem to be a bunch of extras that we spring for, (and we live in the land of 10% sales tax!). My one buddy bought 4 extra magazines at $50 bucks each…that’s $200. Holy cats! Marauder mags at $13 are much more appealing. We’ll see how this thing pans out. I’d love to buy/own an American equivelant of the Air Arms rifle…but it has to as good or better 😉

Steve, there seems to be a lot of happy Marauder owners now, even if they did experience some initial issues. You know Tim, you can even go to his shop if need be. You might wait awhile before Crosman gets around to fixing anything, and for new ones to come out with any fixes.
I was gonna say, those AA prices you quoted seem a bit high to me, you could get a 410 from PAG Steve for about $993.00, Beach. (with free case) You could always get extra mags and stuff later. He’s another good guy that stands behind the guns he sells. Maybe you have a scope from another gun you can use and replace things later…Just a thought. But either way, good luck in your next purchase.

Jumper, it’s good to hear that Crosman took care of you. However, their poor quality control that allowed that rifle to leave the factory is garbage to say the least. It sounds like you are happy with it and I am looking forward to more posts regarding velocity, number of shots per fill, and your experiences with adjustment of trigger pull and power. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
