Q:

Marauders…How are they working out?

I am curious how the new Marauders are working for those of you who have bought one, or have tried someone elses. Please post your positive and negative experiences.

Someone had mentioned that the gun doesn’t come with any provision to fill it…is this true? What does someone need to purchase to allow filling from a scuba tank or hand pump?

It has been compared to the AA 410 series…so, how does it stack up to the 410s?

Thanks in advance…I know that many of you will share your valuable insights. 😀

Thanks for the strings vhag. That is 27 ft/lbs. Were they accurate? Do you have any Crosman premiers…14.3 grains that you can try… or any other similar 14+ gr pellets, (super domes etc)?

Pyramid Air’s customer feed back is pretty good, but then again we are all skeptical as to whether or not they post the negative responses. So those I take with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the feedback. I look forward to more perspectives.

i chronied my today with kodiaks at 2500 psi
first 10 shots with 21.8 kodiaks
low=718.2
HI=746.2
ES=27.9
SD=9.2
next ten shots i had about 2300psi
lo=751
HI=788.8
AVG=771.4
ES=37.7
SD=11.4

And possibly the preferance for Crosman to sell more pellets lol. Some seem to think it’s not exactly an accident it worked out that way.

Word is that the Maurauder is choked pretty tight, thus the preference for CPs.

Thanks Roger for the review. The fact that your Marauder prefers CP’s makes me wonder what the rate of twist is in that rifle. Furthermore, it makes me wonder what the rate of twist is in the 410. It would not surprise me to hear that the rate of twist, in the Marauder, is tailored to the CP’s…if for nothing else, to sell more pellets.

One of the reviews at PA stated that the gun was shooting 954 fps…isn’t that around the magic number for pellet stabilization? Maybe turning up the power/velocity will stabilize the heavier pelllets. Just a thought.

The short answer in my opinion, at this point in time the Marauder cannot hold it’s own compared to my s410. At half the price I didn’t expect it to.

I am still testing the crap out of my marauder so I am not ready to say too much right now.

But I will say it is very quiet, and it only likes CP pellets. It will shoot FTS and Kodiaks ok, not good or great.

From the groups I have shot at 17 yards, I can tell my s410 will group better at 50, 2nd place would more than likely got to my SS, then 3rd place would be left to the marauder.

I have left it at the factory power setting, and I am filling the 215 cc cylinder to 2500psi shooting 30 shots (3 magazines) then it is down to 1800 psi and I refill back to 2500. With this setting I average around 875 fps with the CP’s.

I have not played with the power settings, because I think it is pointless until I get it to be able to group better with heaver pellets.

Roger
