Matador R3M .22 detuned to 20ftlbs
Ive just finished detuning a .22 R3M for a field target match this weekend.. After a few reg adjustments Ive got it set at 20 ftlbs with 15.89gr Edgun pellets and it is absolutely stacking pellets at 55 yards! The velocity is a touch too low for the 18gr pellets as the trajectory suffers.. they still group well but I wanted it to shoot a little flatter so I decided on the 16gr instead.
It was a last minute change of plans and the other shooters this weekend are expecting me to turn up with my Steyr.. None of them have seen an Edgun in the flesh as yet and it will be a first for NZ to have one entered in F/T..
I wish now that I had done it earlier so I could get a bit more trigger time to get a little more familiar with the trajectory of this pellet/velocity combo..
I hope I can show case just what this little pup can do and show that its not just a high powered hunting pcp..

I feel the exact same way. There has to be something left for the shooter to do. Bolting a gun on a bench just shows what the gun is capable off. I learn that way of shooting when young and i shot like that while in military so it´s kinda stuck.
That’s how I primarily shoot. Bipod up front on ground/rock/ against tree and just me in back. It’s how I hunt so I try to always shoot that way.
Main reason why I chose hunter class for FT.
I see no bragging rights in shooting one hole at distance from a benchrest. The gun is being left alone for most part to do its job. I like being directly involved and responsible in outcome.
For one reason or another i´m far,far better shooter with a powderburner than with a PCP. Maybe i should start to use a bag under the rear stock instead my left forearm and see what happens. I always use just bipods (the controversial Atlas) at front and my forearm under the rear. I´ve never accustomed to shooting bags but maybe it´s time. Or maybe i need to concentrate .. 😀
The gun is every bit capable of one ragged hole at 50m. I’m not always capable :-).

They look just like they did when shooting JSB 18s at 885fps.
Nice tight group. At 55 yds a 1/2″ or 13mm group or smaller is normal.
That 10 bar / hour may very well be near the truth if it´s anything like the Cricket reg. On a .25 Cricket reg a half a turn equals approx 60 bar. Or atleast the one i ordered as a reserv for mine does. I got it pressure tested and marked from 110 – 150 bars with 10 bar increments.

I was told by Alex (EU rep.) that every hour is equivalent to 10bar…?
Provided that the factory setting is truly set at 130bar, but I have yet to test this theory out…going to make me a reg tester when I get home and put it on the R3M which is still virgin in that area.

I also recently retuned mine for FT. I’m running the JSB 13.43s at 810fps for 20fpe in my R3 22 long. Stacks pellets also at 55.
YEESS, i like it too, mine is walnut but not looks like W NZ stocks …. he got a good luck to get those niece stocks….

i have my plan to de-tune my Edgun reg to 930 fps as a higher velocity and 890 as a lower velocity…. how? i have to try…. I have sent an email to Ed, asked him, what pressure he usually set the Edgun regs?

The following vids were done for my local club to start a new f/t catergary in NZ to encorage some new members to join and trim out some of the political dead wood that F/T often gets..
As promised the vids are done… not without some serious computer issues though..
I shot with 4 different cameras (and an Edgun R3M ;)) on Sunday and the editing program didnt like the mix of various file formats when it came to finalising the various edited footage into HD movie format.. after a few choice words and some file conversion I got it all to work.. Unfortunately some of the vids lost the quality slightly but this was the lesser of two evils..
Please excuse the sloppy editing in the interviews, unfortunately we had no end of noise interruptions from loud vehicles, ducks and several aircraft pulling aerobatics overhead .. roll eyes…
As a general note: All vids shot in front of the firing gates ahead of the muzzle were taken from unmanned tripods and standard live range safety practices were followed throughout the event no matter what the cameras may portray.
