I am testing .250 cast bullets in the .25 Talon/Condor now, and the results are outstanding

Have been wondering about .22 for years.
Also have thought about having a .22 long rifle barrel. machined and trying available .22 bullets on the market.

Which slugs are you testing? Was that your post on the yellow forum?

I have a post on the Yellow about .250 bullets Yes. Very impressed! BUT—Three touchiing, and two flyers. Listen to RC. He knows of what he speaks!

Bullets designed for firearms in 22 just don’t work whether centerfire or rimfire, to much difference in diameter.

In 25 caliber cast bullets can be made to work with air gun barrels, with the correct sizing dies and molds to start with, but going to a 257 barrel is simply where the serious cast bullet shooters gravitate to.

Your pictured HW 100 simply is not going to cut it for a cast bullet shooter, it does not have the power. A Condor is one of the best platforms because of its power, so is the Sumatra in 25.

Some have used two diameter bullets in the Sumatra, but groups just don’t seem to get posted like Tofazfou and myself post groups, and the reason is…….damn if I know.

I have seen Sumatra groups on one of the bullet peddlers sites, and altho they are 35 – 40 yards, they equal what Tofazfou and I shoot at 200 yards and beyond.

A 257420 mold will work in a unchoked LW barrel with a .255 groove diameter, but the need to be sized down in two steps from as cast diameter.

My advice is to find a powerful PCP rifle with a 257 barrel that has been already fitted to it or get one fit to it and by a Lyman 257420 mold.

Mike has had some good luck with a handful of cast bullets in his choked LW barrel, and it seemed to work for him, but beware, it takes hundreds of cast bullets sent down range to really get a grip on what a bullet will do in any given barrel.

I use to get decent groups in my LW choked barrel but was plauged with flyers, and that was a problem I never could work thru with a barrel that I tried to use cast bullet in that was choked.

Anyway if you want a cast bullet air gun, my advice based on as much experience as any one I know of, get a Condor and put a TJ 257 barrel on it, barring that find a Haley 257 if you can, but I think most are holding tight to theirs. I know I am.

A few years back Jerry came out with some scaled down surefire slugs in 22cal. Out of a choked barrel it was all over the place. Unchoked barrel they were kick ass atleast from my barrel.
