Monday nite pellet rolling video
New to some old to others, but with everything I do it is new to me and if I find it interesting others may also. I will say so far that I can tell a difference in rolling radi. which encompasses the head and the skirt diameters, but none the less there is a difference !! The pellets from Ed, via Tony are much more consistent than the AGD but on the other hand if my gun prefers one roll -vs- the other and it is not the Ed pellets, the standard issue JSb’s from AGP and PA yield a more dramatic mixture from which to sort out the ones I need. I hope you like country music, It’s how I roll at least this evening.

I roll mine here too.. but I resize the skirt first.
I had a skirt sizer made for .25 but not .22 yet. I seem necessary to get any information from it. Have you seen positive results from the effort ?? I have not got that far yet… ???

I don’t buy the rolling unless the skirts are standardized first either. I am only sizing skirts to see if I can roll the pellets for head size and it seems a waste of time if the skirt is not taken out of the equation, I am assuming the air pressure will do with the skirts what it needs. …….. I don’t know if there is anything here or not but I do know reading will not answer my question, I will go to the effort as best I can and find out……… I don’t know the answers ……but I will !!!!!

I introduced the original Yrrah Roll concept in about 2004. It has been through some iterations. If you open this reference posted last year you should get the idea.
It is extremely difficult to head size pellets with calipers or micrometers and get an accurate result for batching. Not impossible, but nearly so. My roll method allows discrimination batching for head size without measuring (though the actual size can easily be derived). … Why do it? It is generally believed that head size is important and that groups are generally tighter if all pellets are the same and the size is the correct one for the particular barrel. …. There are also some other spin-offs from the process.
You may like to read down to my responses in the thread, particularly the answers to “Pilkguns” “questions”. ( He never did acknowledge my effort to give detailed answers despite being given a heads-up ).

Because, when forcing a pellet in a choke in lead and firing it with 1700psi + of air —–> the pellet will have a new ass! 😯

The jig I made to reform the skirts had two sizes of tapered holes, one matched the tightest part of the hole in the mag. and the other was .002 larger. I had it made for .25 and for some reason I am rolling .22’s, no Idea why, lost focus I guess. I need test it out and get some results from the efforts and if positive I’ll go add the .22 holes and the .30’s too.
If you size the skirt before the mag does will they still be snug in the mag?

Thanks Ride, I didn’t give any thought to the magazine sized shirts. Thanks for the input. It’s great to follow your passion about these air guns as well as a few others here. I wish I could contribute more as yourself but at this point all I can do is let you guys know just how appreciative I am as are others.

I chose those dimensions because my R3M magazines size skirts down to .252″
I look forward to your results. I would think that sizing skirts is critical in order to roll test for head sizing, I just don’t know what size is best to size skirts for best performance, then again JSB skirts are fairly soft and would think of them expanding easily. As said, I look forward to your findings.

The best place to read about testing head size by method of rolling pellets was brought forward by Yrrah, Harry spelled backwards, of the yellow forum. You would be hard pressed to fine a more informative post than his posted findings into this matter. Do a yellow forum search and you should come up with several posts and videos of this subject matter. You may already have but for those who haven’t its worth the read. Harry’s shooting seem to back his findings.
