Q:

My .25 Daystate Air Ranger gets a new barrel

I have one more rifle to try and test today and it’s sort of a new toy. I found a previously bought but never used BSA barrel, machined by Leupy, for my .25 Air Ranger! The previous owner couldn’t get his Airwolf barrel off and never mounted the BSA barrel. It is very straight and in new condition. This will bring me from a 17″ barrel to a 24″ barrel and could possibly bump up my power from 48 fpe to 60 fpe. This BSA barrel is so much thicker than the factory LW barrel and I’m considering getting a barrel support although it doesn’t seem to need it. Later in the day I will post a video of my factory LW barrel. Although it was fairly accurate, it is no where as straight as this BSA barrel.

I Admire you guys presistance. I can see one hole groups at 80 yards in the future. 😀

I think you should get a 21″ BSA barrel, and a Swift bull barrel shroud, and a new Zeiss for your MCT 😆

Are you crazy? How much more accurate can the MCT get? Just buy another rifle and get a .25 Ranger or Rapid. 🙂

You took the words right out of my mouth! 😆

Nope, plenty accurate, BUT I would love this kind of accuracy in a .25!

I took your advice and picked up a Z-Plex Zeiss today. Yep, you were right! Nice Reticle! 😀 This one is a 44mm so it can set lower on the Wolf.

But I really missed the smack down of the .25, so the New Zeiss allowed me to put the Mil-Dot Ziess back on the .25 AF! WooHoo!! (Having a FC problem and the .25 really gets the job done 😉 )

didnt FX buy the rights for the smooth twist barrels…..so you wont see them unless you get yourself an FX rifle ?

Didn’t think about that.. Good point…. I was thinking that they would
manufacture them or have them manufactured, and sell them separate…

i would love a swift shroud for my wolf. just cant justify the five hundy.

i got a carbon reflex silencer coming from AOA in the mail. i guess it matters who you talk to though. one guy said i had to send in my rifle, but called later to order some pellets and a condor qc adapter and said ohh and a carbon reflex attachment for my .25 wolf. it will be here on thursday.

i ordered from SHANE.

Humm??? I wonder how the AW would like a BSA Bbl.?
Now if I could get the power up a little, a .25 Bbl. 😀

Fuck off Mam’. Then instead of .25″ groups at 80 yards you would just make a single small hole with 5 pellets.. 🙄 😎 😎 😎 😆

The barrels will not be available from me until I have a company with
them in production, they are too expensive as one offs.

I am inquiring about the new barrel you have manufactured and would
like to know when and if the barrels would be available in .22cal blanks..

Thanks For your reply

Ranger with the BSA barrel and 7″ moderator.

I will do more testing today and will also swap my Rapid barrel over to a BSA and hope the improvement is as noticeable as it was in the Ranger

10 shot groups from 50 yards with 35 fpe, AZ tuned Rapid MKII on the left and 10 shots from the .25 Air Ranger on the right producing 57 fpe!

BSA barrels rule. Like varminter says, the JSB kings are crazy accurate through it.

👿 What da mean not selling! 😆

Or ===Ooh, Long range! 😈 😀

That sucker is gona be LOOOOONG with a shroud. 😆

I’ve shot at least a couple hundred rounds through this cannon and the BSA barrel is a HUGE improvement. A few more FPE than before. It’s happily eating Kodiaks and Kings. And it’s shooting CTC holes with both that are probably way too tight for most to believe.

I’ll post, or maybe Varminter will before I get the chance, a target with a ten shot group of JSB Kings from the Ranger at 57FPE versus ten shots from an AZ tuned Rapid .22 at 35FPE. Both fifty yards in the same conditions. Same rest and same shooter. Same basic results. I got the occasional flyer, maybe once per mag, but overall very consistent accuracy.

Last week I hit a coot at a distance we think is close to one-hundred thirty yards. Tonight I may have beaten it. Two shots to range the bird, and one hit for a pass through the lower neck. After leaving the coots body, the pellet hit the water, popped like a rimfire, and crashed through the weeds like a cannon ball. The coot flopped and fell still immediately. All this through a moderator that almost makes the compression chamber ping the loudest noise. Downrange of the rifle though, you can tell that something big and fast is coming your way.

I would step over my burning grandmother for this Ranger.

One hole groups at 50 yards and you’ll hit anything aimed for easily. I’ll try to stretch her out to groups at 100 yards tomorrow but 70 to 80 yards for sure. I’m not selling this one! 😆
