My AF pump can kiss my ass!
……………and right in the middle, too.
All it took was taking part in a post to GettheBlueJay where he talked about his pump being out of commission. My pump must have been reading over my shoulder from the shelf it sits on in my office and now it has decided to act like a bitch!
It is pumping to about 2,000 psi and then not increasing any higher in pressure. Kind of makes a slight air leak/hissing noise on the downstroke, which it has done a few times lately but it used to feel like all of the sudden something sealed for some reason and then I could pump to my normal fill of 2,800 psi. Now tonight, nothing above 2,000 psi. I have removed, cleaned and tightened all fittings to no avail.
What is wrong with it?
From what I have read, it may be the third stage o-ring. Is it worth taking this POS apart and trying to fix it myself with ACE hardware O-rings or should I send it back to AF on warranty and just not shoot for two weeks? Has anybody successfully fixed one of these with local parts?
Glad my new .223 will be here this week!

I did a trade with a gentleman recently -my Santa Rosa R1 for his Savage model 110FP .223 (pre 2003), a bunch of handloads and all of his .223 dies, his load data and range book for the gun. I have wanted a Savage bolt gun ever since I shot my buddies 110FP in .308. I cannot believe the accuracy out of the box with these guns.
I have wanted another .223 for awhile now and this one fits the ticket perfectly. It is from Savage’s “Tactical” line w/ a 24″ Heavy barrel w/ 1 in 9″ twist, a sharp shooters supply match trigger currently set to break at 13 oz and the large bolt handle. I am told it is grouping sub 1/2 moa with 62 grain hornadys, but I know nothing else so far about the load. I have always wanted a .223 set up for the 55 grain plus loads as getting 550 fpe out at 500 yards with a little ol’ .223 should make for some fun coyote shooting!
I also have a Javelina hunt coming up in a couple of months and this will be the perfect little bolt gun for my style of hunting -glass from high ridges, spot my target and shoot 300-600 yards across the the far hill from a prone position.
I don’t like to hunt anything anymore……..I like to snipe them!

Because AF is going to take ages to get it back…. And anyway, the replacement will probably do the same thing…It’s a common problem…

I had the same issue, and I originally was going to repair it, but the people at AF seemed so sincere that they would fix it….
