Q:

My Condor finally is a tack driver.. and the magic was…

putting a one piece stock on it. I built one out of black walnut and it fits nice and snug. It’s hole on hole accurate at over 30 yards and still more tests to do but this is a real relief and end to a long search for what my troubles were with the Condor shooting “good” but not as accurate as I knew it should be. I guess frame flex is very real and a real problem with a stock condor. I also have a supersear mod on it which helped immensely. When adjusted right it has a smooth first stage and stops .. then breaks with just a slight touch. Couldn’t ask for more. [/img]

Maybe it is more vibration tuning then frame flex??? Knifemaker maybe it is the lube on the o-ring is stiff, around the tp-hat stem, I am going to try some pell-gun oil see if that works better then silacone.

And it does not hurt, that the stock must have a router cut out, that the bottom rail of the frame sits in. You can see it in the photo, the bottom rail we all hang lasers and such on. No left to right if its a nice clean fit

PS : ericw..that the best home made stock I have ever see. You did well!

Looks real fine. Curious how that would stiffen up frame flex?

Just a question that hit me. 🙂

The weakest section of the frame is right below the breech.

A 1 piece stock that uses 2 mounting points will make this section stiffer and harder to twist because pressure imparted on the grip is now spread over a bigger area of the frame.

A single mount like the standard grip turns the grip into a lever. Any excess pressure bends the frame slightly.

2 mounting points, the effect is much less dramatic.

MAW, I’ve had three different valves in the gun. Two moded valves, and one (in there now), the new gen. factory condor valve, and it still does it. Especially if it has been setting in the house a few days.

Same reason every one suggest shooting one or two shots before shooting a first string for accuracy. A long standing problem with these guns. 😥

Why the 1st shot low, stock condor?

Yep
! You hit the nail square on the hean. And a nice job it is! 😉

I put a MadDog Ultamate (Full length-Long) on mine a few weeks back, and now I’m thinking, if I can still live with a single shot, I may not have to spend the money for a Royal 500.

Yes, it is just that accurate with the stiffened frame now. Well under an inch at 80 yards is now not just an every now in then thing. It’s very regular. 50 yards well under a half inch is the norm now. Damed near every time! (JSB .25’s at 880-910fps.)

Now if I can just get rid of that low first shot, this could be a real world class air rifle. (After all these years chasing POI changes 👿 ) FINALLY!!! An AF Gun that I can depend on! 😀 😀

Awesome, nothing like curing frame flex

Mr NEWBIE, he said he built it out of walnut

Now that is a nice looking stock.

Did you make it, or buy it?
