Yes that’s not bad at all.
Getting more shots also is a good thing !
Nice shooting Jan !
Strange, about the hammer bounce.
Seems to me that if it’s tuned lighter that it will just release more of the air out of the per-charge chamber with just one hit.
Which in turn will take longer to close and using more air per shot ?
If the reg is tuned below 120 bars, the effect of adjusting the valve spring retainer has an effect on the velocity, but will have little to no effect on the air consumption.
Maybe because of the lower reg pressure that the amount of air inside of the per-charge chamber is already to small to make a difference in air consumption ?

This is shooting for 50m 5 shot, 262mps http://1drv.ms/1aVTXGe
Not so bad. But air efficiency is very good. From 200-110bar I can get four and half magazine. 63 shots.
It would be slightly inconsistent may be due to weaker valve spring… hammer will be bounce more than once… Iยดm guessing too. ๐
I will try shoot with 18grain pellet with 262ms and I will inform you ๐
My 22 standard in now set to 120 bar with valve retainer set to 1/2 turn, speed at 268.2mps (880 fps) with JSB 18g.
At the same setting it will shoot JSB 16g at 280.4mps (920 fps).
Not sure, but set the retainer 1/4 turn after the contact might cause inconstancies in the speed ?
It would be interesting to see your testing the JSB 18g pellets with speed at 262mps (860fps).

WOW Greg this is important investigation. My reg is set approx 120bar +-2 bar and valve spring retainer 1 turn after contact. But I still thinking what would improve if I set the retainer 1/4 turn after the contact ?? I recover if I would use JSB jumbo pellets 16grain suitable speed for them is 274mps (899fps) For this speed and this pellet is the best speed 899fps and pressure for regulator is 120bar. You could shoot up to 110bar with no problem with poi. Really best speed (for my barrel) is 899-902fps for 16gr. pellets.
Now I will go testing 18gr. pellets with speed 262mps (860fps) This is same setting as for 16gr. pellets but speed is 899fps for 16gr. pellets.
Hi Jan,
I have been tuning some of my friends Crickets and notice that the setting of the valve spring retainer can have some to little effect on some guns.
I found the below to be true so far, but don’t exactly know why ,,,,,, ,,,, ,, , yet.
Valve spring retainer settings from 1/2 – 2 turns after contact.
If the reg is tuned higher then 120 bars, the adjustment on the valve spring retainer will have little effect on the velocity, but will have an effect on the air consumption.
If the reg is tuned below 120 bars, the effect of adjusting the valve spring retainer has an effect on the velocity, but will have little to no effect on the air consumption.

I have same suggestion as Greg said about 16grain pellets for longer distance. 18gr. hold accuracy better than 16gr. probably due to slightly heavy pellet.
For comparison:
18gr pellet for 63 meters
18gr pellet for 50 meters

18gr pellet for 100 meters 5 shot

Wow Jan that’s some shooting!! My Cricket likes the 15 gr also but my BC HATES them so I only buy 18.1 JSBs.
My Cricket 22 cal standard likes JSB 16g and 18g.
JSB 18g @ 880 fps / 268.21 mps best accuracy.
JSB 16g @ 920 fps / 280.4 mps best accuracy
At 30 yards / 27.5 m there share about the same grouping.
At 50 yards / 45.7 m the 16g has a bit smaller grouping.
At 75 yards / 68.6 m the about the same.
At 100+ yards / 91.5+ m the 18g hold it’s accuracy better then the 16g.
My FX Revo likes JSB 16g at 930 fps / 283.45 mps over the 18g @ 890 fps / 271.26 mps.

I’ve found that even the Vulcan likes them 16gr but at 280-285 mps range.
Many thanks Greg. I’m very surprised. I do not expect so good result from 15grain pellets. Probably I found good series in my local gun shop. It is series from year 2013… Next I will try longer distance. Let say 100 meters ๐

I measured your target group sizes to be about.
First target .277โ=7.04mm ctc @ 50 meters/54 yards – 5shots
Second target .303โ=7.7mm ctc
Last target .447โ=11.36mm ctc @ 63 meters/69 yards
Nice shooting Jan !

Not too shabby.

Today shooting with different pellets. Iยดm out of stock of 18grains pellet. So, I used 15grains JSB pellets. See for result… I think is not so bad. Speed was set to 274mps/900fps
50 meters/54 yards – 5shots

63 meters/69 yards

Hey Greg, today I have had little time for shooting. I tried 50 meters and 63 meters. I have to say you Iยดm back to 880fps (268mps) The results (groups) are more tide with 880fps than 860fps… maybe pellets are not enough stabilized with speed 860fps…
50 meters – 10 shots – 880fps 18grain

63 meters – 8 shots – 880fps 18grain

I watched on manometer every shot when needle slightly passed 120bar I got immediately 267mps – 266mps ect. I think regulator is set right there ๐
