Some guys regularly fill their DAQ’s to what, 3600-3800 psi? I haven’t heard of one failing yet.
Did I read somewhere he tests them to like 6000 psi, or is it just me.
which brings up a point, how long will an airforce bottle last till it decides to blow up in your face?

My only real concern is the lack of testing on the reservoir of the DAQ you have to realize that the reservoir is just like a scuba tank and needs to be inspected, and all of the other guns that are being imported all have aluminum reservoirs instead of steel for a reason I am just concerned for the shooters overall safety.
I know dennis tests his reservoir for safety. But I do believe when a HPA cylinder is under 2″ dia no hydro or visual inspections are required.
That would be true if he was using aluminum instead of steel, when you use steel the inside starts to corrode from moisture trapped inside and that is where the problem is.
Also the way he testes his cylinders in not the proper way, the next time you go to your local scuba shop and have a hydro done ask them what they think of the prose’s he uses to test the cylinders.
By filling a reservoir with oil and just making sure it wont leak isn’t even close to DOT guidelines, when you test a tank you are testing expansion and contraction of the reservoir not on if it leaks or not.
All of this information I have gathered over the past couple of years has been from professionals dealing with all types of high pressure tanks, from scuba to welding for a combined experience of over 50 years and also by talking to engineers at Luxfer and Catalina to have them produce my reservoirs.

Currently I am pursuing doing conversions for the Air Force rifles I just got my barrels from Germany so ill start doing the testing hopefully in August.

i got a buyer in DK that has put down deposit for the rifle, so i will not be taking it out hunting, it will fly to denmark in oktober

don’t get bummed out on selling your DAQ I have personally owned a couple of them not to impressed with them especially with no safety or psi gauge. I actually designed a similar gun and submitted it to my insurance company before producing them, just like I did with the blodnob valve, and they denied the approval for these reasons.
1.no safety
2.no gauge to tell you how much air is in tank.
3.resovoir not approved by DOT
4. No burst disk
My adjuster at the insurance company told me if I can resolve these design flaws they will give me the green light to produce the gun, I do realize I will probably piss a lot of people off but that is life I personally wont produce a product that I can not get liability coverage on and just like Air Force I have the same insurance company there is only one company that will insure anything air rifle/gun related products. so I ask you this does Dennis have insurance on his products????
Brad, don’t be too hard on DAQ as the items #2,3,4 in your list are absent in the majority of PCP airguns available. The rules of safe gun handling makes #1 unnecesary due to the safety being located between the gun handlers ears and NOT on the gun.

well yeah im selling…the price i can fetch in Denmark (2K)…its hard to say no, and its a good deal for both me and buyer in Denmark
and im the bay area…so the houses are thin walled…cant shoot in or outside my home (with something that loud)
theres a 2 hour drive to the nearest spot i can shoot, but nothing to shoot than cant be taken with HMR or Rapid, actually hard to justify keeping the rapid

That is a branch node curling into the grain, 100% natural. Lots of these make flamed maple (sort of).
May be it is a life line and the gun is going to last a long time, just take er out and shoot a bear or something, then you’ll forget about it, congrats AND GOOD LUCK ON THE BEAST.

It all depends when the last hydro was, these tanks are vary robust compared to the thin walled reservoirs on the Quakenbush guns, so I wouldn’t be to worried a bought it and they are also aluminum so you wont have to worry a bought rust eating away from the inside.
