Q:

My review on my new Donnys shroud .22cal cricket bullpup

Just recieved my Donnys ldc (pvc) and after having (4)people not including myself listen for a before/after comparison I came to the conclusion that it is definately quieter with Donnys on it.It is not as quiet as my 40ft/lb AZ Rapid with 24″ barrel/shroud or my AZ Rapid 30ft/lb with 19″ barrel/shroud or my AZ Rapid carbine 30ft/lb with 17″ barrel/shroud but these are 250 dollar shrouds compared to a 65 dollar shroud. It installs very easy, light weight, adds about 6″,but at 33″ length , who cares? It looks nice and didn`t change my poi at all.Is it worth 65 bucks?,yes it is,anything that takes the edge off that pop, easy to slide on/off ,and looks good is a winner in my book. Thanks Donny, greatly appreciated.

Just for the fun of it,I adjusted the velocity on the cricket down to 800fps with 18gr jsb`s (I have it normaly set at 880fps with 18gr).800fps is still a nice velocity for long range shooting,(I was hitting a 3 3/4″ steel spinner at 100yds no problem in calm conditions)and the noise is rediculously quiet.Don`t get me wrong, the donnyldc is neighbor friendly at 880fps,but it is just fun to take it to the stupid-quiet zone.I`m loving it more and more.

I have the 3/4″ spinners across the pond at 77 yards and can spin them all day long with my .22 cricket. Lot of fun.

I drilled mine and no difference in accuracy, it’s already a tack driver……………… :4:

Thanks Zonk,
I was wondering if the back porting was acting like a stripper/moderator cutting down the influence of the muzzle blast. My Condor 25 cal benefited from an increase of accuracy of 1/4″ @ 100 yards. Closed the 4 porting holes in the frame and it goes back to a larger group size.

If one day, if you may tape the holes close and test shoot to 100 yards to compare open and closed.

PM me the results if or when your time permits you to.
I will appreciate it that, Thank You !

I don`t have a depinger in my cricket, and I can`t compare the before/after accuracy on the drilling of the shroud because I had wildwest airguns send it to Ernest before I even seen it.

Congratulations on a great buy mweyker !

I have a question about the Ernest porting (drill mod) of the OEM shroud. Have you notice an increase in the accuracy of your gun from this ?

Thanks Mark! Just curious, do you also have the de-pinger installed on your cricket? In my gun I cut two 1 inch vinyl tubing and place one by the regulator and one by the air gauge. My gun is pretty quiet, with a thunk of the hammer slap. I have heard from another member who has a Rapid and Huggett that it’s super quiet.

I`m trying to zero in on a good comparison for the noise level of my Donny ldc installed on my cricket standard .22cal bullpup shooting 18gr at 880fps.As mentioned in previous post ,my Rapids are quieter (they are the new shrouds AZ uses)which he said are an improvement compared to older ones). So today I compared my cricket with Donny ldc against my AirArms mk3 .22cal springer shooting 14.3gr at 700fps and the cricket is much quieter.(this is the full length tx200,not the carbine). So as I said before ,I am very content with the performance of the Donny ldc. should make a note:my cricket shroud has the Ernest Rowe drill mod,and when i covered the holes with tape (to slide on the Donny ldc)it was louder then when I allowed the drilled holes to be open.Hope this helps anyone interested in a friendlier cricket.
