Yea, Kind of like me , I have a great white, Really no need for it as I use my small Venturi tank 99.9 percent of the time.
But sure as I sell it I will go some where that I will be shooting 10,000 pellets and thinking , I should have brought the Great White…
Its just always something.
Mike
I have a Sheldon 4.1 and it is a fine piece of machinery. I ordered it gas powered, I thought I might want to take it someplace without electricity. After three years never taking it anyplace and a small problem with the ss tube from the fourth stage cracking at the flare about 5 times, I switched it to electric, quieter and no more cracked tube flares. I just went over 21 hours on it. Regards, Tom
It is for the gasoline engines, either that or clean the carb out once a year, I just think everyone should know that the compressor needs to run too, or stuff will start sticking on it.
I know how to plug one in at the wall outlet, And that’s about it,
It was my understanding that running them every couple of weeks is just for the gasoline engines,
But I could be wrong,,
I do no 100% for a fact , I myself would not put pump gas in it if it had the 10% ethanol in it,
Ethanol does bad thinks to gas tanks, Rubber, And will plug up a carburetor on a motorcycle in two weeks sitting .
Just saying,
Mike
Yes, it is a gas engine, but that should not change the way the compressor pump works, and I have a stuck stage 3 on the compressor, this is what Jim Sheldon says, and that it had to do with me not running it for a long time, he said this can happen in a short period of 6 months.

You got a gas compressor right? Or is it electric? (gasoline)
Mike
One thing for sure, running it for 15 mins. or so once a week definitely won’t hurt it, with the low usage they get due to quick fill times. That’s only approximately 13 extra hours a year. Given that the case, better safe than sorry!
Well,I didn’t run mine for 14 months, and the stage 3 got stuck, so I sent it to Jim yesterday, so after I get it back I’ll be starting it more often.
MAW
I think that goes for the gas compressors, If I had a gas one I dam sure would not run ethanol in it,
Mike
Noted. I think for a while after I get it I will be using a Pony or Guppy air tank, so running it often won’t be a problem.
Thanks Maw
I might add, to remember these compressors love to be run, and often, like every 2 to 3 weeks, start them and warm them up, to keep them running. Mr Shelden advised me to do this.
Thanks to reviews like yours.
It really is a great machine. Used mine yesterday to top off my tank. I’ve put about 5 hours on the compressor in the past 2 years. I used to stress out about hand pumping & got to the point where I didn’t even want shoot. Now my only problem is keeping pellets stocked up. You made a good choice…it’s worth every penny.
And Jim speaks perfect English even for a guy like me that is a little slow,
One of the best things I have bought, Have not got my Mutant in yet so we will see, LOL
Mike
Thanks again, Mike! I’ve been told by dyotat100, due to quick fill time macine never runs for very long or hard, so it should last me my lifetime. He said in two years he’s only put 20 hrs. on it, and we all know Doug shoots quite a bit. That’s less than the time most others I’ve seen on the market takes to fill a Great White about 3 times.
Jim did seem like a great guy, as well. This seems like a win-win, more shooting because 1) Quick fill time… Oh forget it, echo what Dirty South said… :dito:

Guys, Running the compressor regularly is very important. Since they do not have piston rings on the 3rd and 4th stage
(very close tolerance chrome pistons to cast cylinders) if they sit for 2-3 months with out running the pistons tend to stick and then won’t release when you start the pump. Only the 1st stage is connected to the crank shaft , the other three are free floating and only air pressure pushes them into contact with the scotch cam. Remember these were used on aircraft and gun systems and should be run regularly. You wouldn’t let your airplane sit for 2-4 months, so don’t let these compressors sit idle.
Run them every 2-3 weeks at least to get them hot and keep every thing free. Gas engine drive the same as electric.
You wouldn’t let your gas mower sit for 3 months and expect it to run on the first pull: so don’t expect the compressor to sit idle and for a long period of time.
