Q:

My talon accuracy, need advice and help

shots my talon with eun jin and cudas, all is bench rest from 32 meter indoor and the result is like the pictures below, result is same with or without ldc.

I don’t think this is accurate enough for dove or squirrel at 50 yards but may be enough for hogs.

Please, let me know does talon owner here has the same accuracy with me or better or worse and how to solve this accuracy problem?

if this can’t be cure I will replace my barrel with .25 cal 24″

thank you in advance
markus

hi have tryed 3 different scopes off of my other rifles and still get the same large groups 🙁 is nice to see in a way that im not the only 1 2 have issues with accuracy

AG1…

i think you may have nailed it. youd also be surprised at the number of people who rely on the marked numbers on their optics and end up with massive parralax error…

ive spent loads of time and money on mine, 2 x new barrels 3 different hammers and springs and 2 different valves and to be honest it still isnt a tack driver 🙁

youve practically replaced the entire gun! something else is wrong. you got any other reputable pcp rifles to confirm its not you or the ammo?

Based on all the replacements then let’s consider what was not replaced, like a bad scope. Take the scope off and tape something on the frame to make some iron sights and shoot. I found a magnum springer scope problem that way.

what caliber do you have? and barrel length?

I suspect that 177 cal is not good for talon?? who knows?

.22 cal 24″ may be better?

also why do you change the barrel? bad crown?

Markus have you cleaned the barrel, have you put some oil like rem gun oil on the pellets just a squirt in the tin.

at 30 yards you should be under a dime with most pellets like Pab’s said.

eun jin pellet has any oil in the tin and with cudas I don’t give it any oil.

can I put wd40 into the pellet?

This is not good accuracy 🙁
At 30 odd metres you should easily be putting those pellets on top of each other!

Could simply be your rifle does not like those pellets. Try JSB heavies.. 😉
Could be the shooter… 😉
Is the FPS consistent?
Are you using a light hold on the rifle (as the frame can flex a little if gripped to hard)

I can see your HW isn’t enjoying those ‘cudas either!

Pellet choice would be my first port of call. As I say, try some JSB pellets in there, you may be pleasantly surprised…

😀

I put the gun at the bench rest pad and only hold it a light also just pull the trigger slowly.

with eun jin is about the same not accurate also.

I ever chronied it and it is enough consistent fps, but I don’t know why? this gun is like this from the new.

or .177 cal is to light for talon valve? I got about 900+ fps with cudas and 800+ fps with eun jin.

I like to try JSB but still rarely here, how much the weight?

my last experience with condor .22 is better than this.

or may be I’m not luck with quality of LW barrel?

yes, the hw accuracy that I show to you is not too good but the last group is better, I just swap the pellet from superdome to cudas, cause I think superdome is not good for 50 meter.

FPS for the ‘cudas and Eun are about right. You really gotta try some JSB 18gr or AirArms Field Plus(18gr and same pellet) before you muck about with the rifle too much. You’ll want to shoot those pellets around the 900fps also. What country you in? Shouldn’t be too hard to source those pellets??

JSB heavy is around 10.3 grain in .177 cal, there is a jsb here, but I’m still found a shop that sell jsb exact diabolo heavy.
I live at indonesia the most common pellets here is rws and H&N

perhaps a victim of LWs recent lapse in quality control? 😕

That is awful. Fire a few pellets down into a large bucket of water then use a magnifying glass to inspect the rifling marks on the tail of the pellet. Any sliding or ribbing would be bad. They should look just like looking in the barrel.
Look at the crown on the muzzle end, if it doesn’t look symetrical and uniform and and square, you may need to recrown.
If you calculate the distance you are off compared to how much it would take to throw the pellet off, you are looking for a very very very small imperfection.
