Narrowing down powerful .25 rifle choices.
I spoke to Steve at PAG today. I can get a Rapid with Steve’s shroud and a quick fill installed or a Daystate Air Wolf with his shroud for same money. He will adjust either from 50-60 ft./lbs. where I desire.
I also saw listed, but didn’t speak to him about, a Daystate Air Ranger 80fpe .25 tactical & moderator for the same money.
I’m thinking the 80 fpe would be too much but read something about them having a good barrel on them compared the the lower powered Air Rangers.
I’m looking to bust woodchucks and pigeons up to and beyond the 100 yard range,
I did ask Steve which he would prefer and he would only say his favorite rifle is the Rapid, not that it was better.
I think he also said the Rapid was lighter but from what I have read the opposite is true.
Thoughts and experience on these guns appreciated.

I’ve ordered two rifles from AoA, an AirWolf and an FX Boss. Both came withOUT the mags 😯 😯 They did send the stock shroud with the AirWolf and the Huggett installed. I have shot this rifle with both the Huggett and the stock shroud and for sure the Huggett does it’s job and looks cool as heck 😎 😎 Now was it worth the money I thought so but now that HOOTS pipe in maybe not 🙁 🙁 damn you HOOT $200 hummmmm. Oh well mine looks cooler anyway 😀 😀
I wonder if Steve has a shroud in the works for the FX Boss. For a 30 caliber it’s not bad but only simibackyard friendly for sure. HOOT would be in jail for sure shooting the BOSS at his place. 🙁 🙁 😆
It sounds like those AOA guys are slippery. Maybe you should make a shipping list and have them check off each item. (Of course that may not make a difference.) 😉

What if AoA keeps the OEM shroud.
Gave a call and asked if they shipped the OEM with the rifle.
Was told they would if I wanted.
Told them I wanted.
I’m sure a lot of shooters out there would like to know if the Hugget is as good as it is hyped up to be. Those suckers are expensive, and we’d like to get your honest report on how it works for you.
Ideally, it will reduce the report to a minor puff.
Either way, the rest of us are curious to find out. Good knowledge to have on the next pcp that’s loud…and there’s always a next pcp.

Edited to add I went with a 50 ft. lb. version, not the 80.
I removed the OEM shroud, and the Airstream V, and sold both of them on the Yellow. Then I took the stock off and shipped the A.R. to Steve.
My sale of the OEM shroud paid for about half of Steve’s work. It sold almost immediately for $100 for the shroud alone and the 1/2″ adapter the Airstream V needed. I sold the Airstream V separately.
I believe you can get all your money back on the Hugget, if it doesn’t give you what you want in quiet. Either way, you will not be disappointed.
I believe the 50 fpe is a wise choice. You get a lot more shots per fill and 50 fpe is plenty to knock down anything you are likely to hit. I always thought 80 fpe was too much for the average shooter.

Thanks for the idea of selling the original shroud. I wouldn’t of thought there was a want. Your by line really is true 😆
They knocked $50- off the price of the shroud as it was on a new gun purchase.
I’ll soon see if it is as good as I hoped.
I did have a Huntsman in .20 a few years back that absolutely stacked the pellets on top of one another. Hope this one is as accurate.

Better make sure they ship all the pieces. Seems like everybody that orders from them is always missing something. Like the magazine.
I would tell them if it doesn’t show up complete I’m sending it back for a refund.
Then call your card and say it was incomplete and I’m shipping it back. Everybody is spending $2000+ And they can’t even ship all the pieces.
Gave AOA a call and they said the rifle came in today. Also that there would be a 5% process fee to cancel the order as they ran the card already.

Uncle Hoot, you live next door to Mrs. Cravitz! I don’t remember hearing about the designer chickens. You have always referred to hes as nosy. Can you post a pic of these designer chickens…er their species?
Being it is a week or so out before it comes in I could cancel the order.
How do you like your Air Ranger?
Daystate is top of the heap for pcp full size rifles. They are very well made and it shows.
As I said, this is a full sized rifle. Target range, stationary position hunter, bench rifle for odds and ends shooting. Three adjustments on the trigger. It lacks nothing. I like it a lot!
Being that you are going for the ‘Big Boy’ 80, you obviously have a need to reach out and touch someone. This is probably the best non-custom made rifle for that type of shooting. You will need a plentyful supply of air. The ’80’ gets all that punch from it’s cylinder, so be prepared to fill accordingly.
The gun fits, feels, fires, functions flawlessly! What’s not to like?
The only issue you will have is noise. The Hugget will definitely quiet it down…but will it be sufficient for what you want? I called Steve and spoke to him personally. He takes the time to explain the difference and he understated the performance of his shroud, as compared to the Hugget. He said he felt there was a difference and that others felt the same. I am now one of those others. He requires your rifle to be in his hands so he can custom fit, test fire, and check results for that particular rifle! He bakes the finish on. If you want quiet to quieter to quietest possible, he will get it there himself, and only charges $200.
Having a Commie spy next door, whose still pissed because I “offed” her damn designer chickens a few years back, has been watching and listening to everything I do. I must be careful, so I spare no effort at silence. If she can’t hear it,and can’t see it, then according to the police…it didn’t happen.
The Daystate is not petite, but it is quite effective at what it does. Now it is effective and silent.

Here FVA, you should read about the experiences that other TAG members have had with AOA. I have heard many, many poor experiences with AOA. I haven’t ever heard even one negative report about Steve at PAG. I have met Steve and he’s a good guy to be sure. My friend has bought several guns from Steve and had several modifications and repairs done by him; all positive outcomes. Just sayin’.
