need advice on new condor
Ok im 49 years old and want to get into this hobby
Should I buy a scuba tank to start out with?what air gauge to the tank do I need?
I want to shoot at targets long range 50-100 yds( not animals) so .177 .20 0r .22 cal ?
Is the bounty hunter good?
what is the best scope for the condor?
any info will be helpful ( what did you do or wished you would of done when you nice folks got into this hobby?

Have had my Condor for 5 years now spent well over $1200.00 on it I would get a shrouded .22 Condor off this Forum, Yellow Forum, or Brads Classifieds, forget about a pump just get a scuba tank.
The .22 well do you fine plus the money you save will pay for a fill clamp and tank.

smokey the condor is LOUD like a powder burner especially if the pellets are breaking the sound barrier. not good for backyard plinking without some kind of shroud/moderator unless your backyard is in the country.

I think I can answer some of this even though mine is an SS. Scuba is way better than a pump. Got mine for $150 used @ the dive shop and just had 1st scheduled hydro so 10yrs left on tank. You can get the Catalina Cylinders 80 cu ft w/valve for $175 from Joe Divers Direct? online if you can’t find a used one. 22 cal is the way to go for starters and I’m sure there’s a bunch who’ll recommend the upgrade to .25 cal.

My take on this is do not buy the Airforce hand pump. It is of poor quality and will break prematurely. The work to fun ratios is heavy on the work side.
Buy a 80 cu ft carbon fiber 4500 psi air tank, provided you first find a place to fill it to the 4500 psi. If you can’t fill it, don’t buy a CF 4500 tank.
If you buy 80 cu ft 3000 psi scuba tanks, buy 2 and cascade fill for about 21 fills versus about 4 with a single scuba tank.
Both tanks can be had used at great savings over the new.
With scuba tank the airforce scuba fill clamp/adapter is the way to go, the gauge on the fill clamp is known to have issues. If a 4500 psi tank is used an aftermarket fill adapter is needed.
As far as caliber, I recommend the .22, never a shortage of available pellets. For brute force power the .25 is the only way to go. Sometimes .25 pellets are hard to get.

If you plan to use a sound moderator on a condor, the Flash suppressor is a waste of money.
If you have a place close to fill a tank, go with a tank. I use a handpump because I have to drive farther than I would like to get a fill up and I am young, weigh 185lbs,(smaller people will have trouble pumping) so hand pumping works good for me. .22 or .25 is going to be the best choice for long distance shooting because .22 or .25 pellets will buck the wind better and have higher BCs than .177 or .20 pellets.

You and I are in the same league abouts….
just get a condor, new or used, and build to taste.
a shroud would be a great benefit to quiet it down.
Go with a dual scuba, or isi fireman’s tank, well worth it,
in fact, I had my tank and hose before I had a black gun 😯
there is alot of good glass out there, and good at good prices.
I bought a used SS with a leapers 4-16×50 red/green mil dot ao,
nice scope for under a benny.
I am on the build/tune list with tony @ talon tunes, I have a condor on order, now I am just waiting… but, I have pretty much decided on
25 cal, shrouded, tuned, w/ a Hawke sidewinder 30, 8-32×56 sr12 IR 😈
I am still a newb here, and the crew here have been helpful, good bunch.
I also know what I want out of a black gun as well 😎
