Q:

Need Help, Removing Valve from AF tank.

I’m going to fly down to Lima, Peru tomorrow to see some family, and I want to take my brother some AF parts for a little crazy experiment we’re working on.

Long story short, in order to get this tank on the plane, I need to remove the valve so the poor TSA employees can see inside it.

I’ve rigged up something that will work, but its not a tool by any stretch. Given the extreme forces I will be exerting on this thing, I have a question:

Which way do I turn the collar/valve assembly? Imagine I have the tank in between my legs, valve pointing out ahead of me.

Righty tighty lefty loosey?

I took the tank as-is as a carry on, and when it came time to go through the machines, I gave the tank its own little tray.

The TSA agent grabbed it, looked it over, and put it right through, didn’t even look my way or ask a question.[edit].

I did the same thing, also with no valve, then this conversation;

TSA: grab it from the tray and hold it high “whose is this?”
Me: “Mine…”
TSA: What’s this?
Me “err… paintball tank”
TSA: “next time put it in the luggage, somebody might use it as a club, and you’ll be the one held responsible should that happened”

same reason i turn my condor down to 500fps , to shoot in the house. or to plink completely silent in the backyard. except i have to adjust my top hat and power wheel, all you have to do with the extra micro tank is switch tanks. and you have 75 to 100 shots to plink with. when my gun is turned down this much i shoot untill i am tired and dont have to worry about filling up tank. makes it great for informal plinking ,

well said matey some times its just about the plinkin a bro. 😉

Never underestimate a minimum wage government employee.

I thought for sure they would detain you after leaving the micrometer in the tank. That could have been a lethal gas with a pin prick hole and you carried it on. Amazing.

I took the tank as-is as a carry on, and when it came time to go through the machines, I gave the tank its own little tray.

The TSA agent grabbed it, looked it over, and put it right through, didn’t even look my way or ask a question.

I did beat up the valve collar pretty bad in this attempt, but at least it all got through.

Micrometer: Yes, its a micrometer tank, I’ve actually never used it, so I can’t attest to its performance characteristics. When I came up with this pet project, I decided to give it to my brother, along with an extra barrel and fill adapter I had.

Thanks for your help on this gentlemen, I appreciate it.

Ok – Explain to me why one would order a MicroMeter valve, with such and itty bitty hole to use on a .22 cailber Condor (that presumably is what he ordered it for).
Next explain to me how much air one could expect to get out of one of these itty bitty holes because there has been an ongoing debate if a ETaC Reg held back too much force or the smaller Talon P tank might not give the umph needed.

He just bought it.

That tank has seen better days.

Wait did u get it off? If not add heat but not to much.

There is no doubt.
That is a micro valve

There is also a brass looking sleeve too, look on the table

looks like that is exactly what it is, micrometer tank .he ordered one, here is the post
