Q:

New Edgun

Got my Edgun about a week ago. Really impressed with this rifle. Lightweight and compact, shoulders nicely. I had read where the trigger action was not that good, mine seems fine to me. It has about 3/16” take-up and then lets off very crisply, with no noticed over travel.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quiet it is. I have a shrouded Condor and the Edgun is quieter with more of a metallic tink when it fires. Very backyard/neighbor friendly. Mine shoots JSB 18.1 pellets at 896 fps. I checked my fps, using my Combro, on a fill of nitrogen and got high 890’s for the first 48 shots then it came off of the regulator. I shot around 65 shots, on that fill, and ended up with 831 fps on the last shot. The regulator is supposed to be adjustable, haven’t figured out how to adjust it yet. My owner’s manual shows how to adjust it (I think!); unfortunately the manual is printed in Russian! Oh yeah, that reminds me, can anyone out there read Russian? If so, I have a job for you!

My Condor, with a Talon tank and valve, has a 24” shrouded barrel and at 46” overall is quite awkward to drag around the woods. The Edgun offers the same performance, with possibly better accuracy, and is a joy to carry in the woods.

I tried to shoot a couple of groups today. It was windy and had a few good gusts mixed in. My gun rest won’t fit my Edgun and I have to shoot off of a crappy old shooting rest. Considering the shooting conditions, I got 5 decent groups. The first and second groups were with JSB 18.1 pellets. Groups 3,4,5 and 7 were shot while standing, and they show it! Groups 6,8 and 9 were shot with Kodiaks. Group 6 has 6 shots in 1 hole, with the inevitable Kodiak flier. I know that this gun is capable of shooting better than this, need to get my rifle rest modified for the gun and pick a less windy day. All groups were at 35 yards.

Laminated stocks ARE beautimous!

Dremmeling/filling here and there, drilling for gauge ect I think I could handle, it’s opening up the ’round channel’ concentrically and evenly for the air tube down the entire lenght of the foresock is what has me pondering.

reasonable to me

No biggie. Just opend the channel a little bigger than you need. Get a peice of 1.25″ OD tubing, and glass bed it into the stock. Remove the tube afer curing, and finish inlettng for the guage and trigger group.

I glassed my 410 stock by filling the guage and trigger holes with modeling clay, (I had sanded out th channel before this to make it oversize).

Then I glassed the tube, not the gun action I didnt want the gun stuck in the stock. I clamped the tube in teh stock on the action end. After cure I popped the tube out, cleared the clay from the holes then trimmed the glue from around those holes to allow the gun action to drop right in. I eventually sanded the glue out some ahead of the gauge so the airtank was free floating.

You can use a flapwheel sander and a die-grinder or drill to releive the channel.

You could probably use a router to rip out the tank channel on another stock. Using the glassbed method you dont have to be super precise.

Since I don’t have a copy of Photoshop, I downloaded the freeware imitation called Gimp. Not the best substitute, but I was able to make a crude rendering of the kind of bullpup stock I saw in my head. I used the “smear” technique quite a bit, so until I get to play around with it a bit more, here’s the finished product.

I’m calling it a T-Rex bullpup.

You could inlet just about ANY rifle stock to fit a 410. Just a 1.25″ round channel, a hole for the trigger group and another for the gauge.

A little glasswork will take care of any too-big areas.

Piece a cake!

Zombie, thx for the link, I was surprised at the prices, seems beyond reasonable to me

Damn that lam stock looks hot! Who makes them Zombie? Would love to slap my 410 action in that if they made them for it.

Thats some awesome help there Zombie, I just saved those pics to me thumbdrive.

Making that stock wont be too hard. Gonna lam up some wood and go for it.

Glad to help you with the addiction 😈

If I had any skills whatsoever working with wood, I’d modify the shoulder stock portion of that EdGun to make it look a bit more like this.

The T-Rex has got to be the sexiest 10/22 stock I’ve ever seen. I don’t have Photoshop on this PC, but I’d love to see what the hybrid of the two would look like.

Yup, and the total cost of the 410, edgun stock, machined parts would be well over the cost of an Edgun.

Pff I wanna do it anyway. 😛

Damn sure looks good with a BAM50 in it, doesn’t it?

Found these pics a while ago…

I bet a 410 would drop right into that stock… with the trigger rod mod of course… and the clamp/ring scope mounts mod.

RiffRaff’s got those wheels spinning 🙄

Yes you rest your cheek on the action when shooting. The gun shoulders so nicely that I don’t notice any discomfort while shooting. The only thing that I don’t love about the gun is that I don’t get to shoot it as much as I would like to, which would be all of the time.

quote The Machinist:

It doesnt look very comfortable to shoot, do you rest your cheek on the action when looking through the scope?

I remember full well when the same concerns were being raised about resting one’s cheek on the AirForce tank.

It doesnt look very comfortable to shoot, do you rest your cheek on the action when looking through the scope? I do like the potato digging hook option that is intergrated into the stock though 😆
