Q:

New JDSairman regulator results

Here are some new reults after rearranging the washers thinking
I was only reducing the output psi by 100…Looks more like it is
around 18-1900.

PW7/7 JSB 15.9 for all strings 3,000psi fill
Condor 24″ barrrel with heavy hammer….
First 32 shot string
Low 808
High 819
Average 814
Extreme Spread 11.4
Standard Deviation 2.82

2nd 32 shot string
Low 811
High 820
Average 815
Extreme Spread 9.5
Standard Deviation 2.23

3rd 32 shot string
Low 810
High 820
Average 813
Extreme Spread 10.5
Standard Deviation 2.4

4th 21 shot string

Total full shot count for a 68cu in tank filled to 3,000psi = 114 with
a Standard Deviation of 2.7625

Here is the target with wind blowing….All 114 shots are here….
Will be interesting to see how it groups with 0 wind…

@2,000psi output with Talon Valve (low flow)
JSB 15.9gr = 815
JSB 18.1gr = 800
EunJin 24.8gr = 680
@2,200psi Output with high flow valve
JSB 15.9gr = 1065
JSB 18.1gr = 1030
Eunjin 28.4gr = 880

The first two sounds like the v.springs are distorted into the threads inside the valve housing. The third one well…… ❓

the highflow valve is fitted the the CO2 adaptor which is an empty space. there is nothing isnside there at all. just the pin on the bottom side of the adaptor to open up the airflow of the regulator

I need to see the valve…Can you see the bottom of the valve
assembly? Seal, screw, clip, something that would hold everything together. There is a spring in there somewhere….

I’ve had my adapter apart before and the valve assembly is the same as on a standard AF tank. Front to back/ tophat&stem-delrincap-valvespring-brass v.spring retainer. Its a high flow valve but its the older style.
nothing fancy in adapter body. Its only purpose is to tap a Co2 tank and provide additional space to thread onto an AF gun. my best guess is the v.spring is twisted or the v.stem is bent or both.

oldgoat, I am one of those guys that loves to re-engineer everything…
The Airhog does so well that I am not about to change anything to
try to make it better. The JDSairman on the other hand is a challange.
I have probably spent enough time and money on the JDSairman
project to by 2 more Airhog setups. If I can find the right combination
to make the JDSairman work, it MIGHT be a more affordable solution
for most to use…I really and truely think that my biggest problem with
the JDSairman setup is the AF adapter…That may prove to be
untrue once I have exhausted all of the ideas I have about modding
the AF co2 adapter…SO in short…If you want consistancy,
Airhog is the way to go at this point in time…I am just trying to
build a cheaper mouse trap that performs the same….

mamcrackin, I am gettin interested in getting a reg setup myself. I have seen your Airhog setup and it seems very impressive. On the other hand, you seem to have a lot of trouble with the JDSairman setup. Is there some advantage to the JDS reg that I am missing?

Now Im even more curious about whats going on inside there. When I open it up I’ll let you know what I find. I have several different size v.springs from my r&d on the archery kits. I’ll let you guys advise me on what wt. spring to use based on what the problem turns out to be.

Are the pins in any of the components made of brass? If so they are probably being flattened off by each impact and letting out less and less air. I had that happen with an over-powered gas revolver once.

As for insufficient air-volume, I’d guess that a copy could be made of the necessary component, only bigger (more volume).

The AF co2 adapter comes with a high flow Condor valve so, no need to
remove a valve from another bottle..Just screw the adapter to the regulator and
then screw the regulator into the bottle…..I still do
not know what is inside the Adapter valve because I can’t unscrew
it to get it out…

Hammer hits breech, breech hits co2 adapter air valve, co2 adapter
air valve pin hits regulator valve pin, and poofff..Dead bird…
