New R3M arrived today…I already f’d up! :(
Hey I’m just recycling this thread I posted last week….I received my Matador R3M today…got to shoot a few mags, Really nice! Anyway I wanted to take it apart and have a look see. I got the stock off…no problem.. Then I was gonna remove the trigger assembly. Well you know those 2 screws near the muzzle end? VERY TIGHT! I got one loose but I couldn’t get the other…I tried a little balistol…no joy…wd40…no joy. I finally managed to strip the head 😳 It even twisted my 2.5mm allen wrench! Any suggestions? I’m thinking I have to drill them out…?

can you post the link of that wed you have mentioned? i did some search i couldn’t find it…
I have replaced virtually all of the screws on my R3 with stainless steel screws. I ordered them on line for a few bucks. There are earlier posts on this forum with all the details of what to order and where to order them from. It adds a bit of bling to the gun and it ensures the long term ease to gun maintenance.
why you don’t take your gun to a gunsmither? they should have all sizes of the Edgun screws… don’y worry brother Btango…at least you are not living in Iraq 😯 😯 everything is available out there ..for sure…
i have a full extra screws of my matador R3M, which came with my gun, even more than one set i believe ,,,, i can send you some of them, but shipping from Iraq to USA or USA to Iraq with USPS will take more than 40 or 45 days … otherwise i am ready … and you will not owe me even a penny… please PM me if you need it … this is my Big Brother Tedd taught me … his Seben scope mount is on its way to Iraq… maybe more 3 weeks till i will get it…
Brother Hemn,
I appreciate your offer, really nice of you. But I am confident I can do the repair myself. Like Ed said…he makes his guns for men with two arms who can change tires etc etc. I have to get some other things too…slim profile 19mm wrench to get barrel nut off, the HIllman Nylon plug to cover fill port, some scotchbrite pads to do shroud mod, anti-seize compound so next time I’ll get them off easier. I just was hoping someone knew offhand the size of those screws.
Sorry for the confusion with this thread….I just thought I’d recycle my old “Just wanted to say thanks” thread instead of starting another one.
Btango, i was quite confused with the first post and the other replies and posts, till i read this post,,,,, :banghead: i said what is going on here, he is taalking about other issue and these guys are talking about something else, i read and checked the first post 3 times looking for the Tregvy’s quote, i said i am crazy…

Does anybody know offhand the size of those screws? I don’t want to take them out before I have suitable replacements….thanks for all the suggestions fellas!
Dam right. I’ve had to use the torx on several bolts.
TORX should be the choice of both EG / Cricket manufacturer to begin with.
If you’ve still got some head left, a t10 torx and a hand impact. That’s the thing you hit with a hammer, not the one you plug in and goes broom, broom. I had to remove one of the breach screws with this method. It was installed very tightly.
Replace the cap screw with good quality 11.9 or 12.1 grade cap screws and you will not strip them again.. It is actually the heads that seize up not the threads so put a bit of antisieze compound under the head to prevent it locking up again.
Exactamundo!!! WMNZ is spot on, happened to one of mine, drilled it and even before I was all the way through the head (drilled through part of it) I noticed it was loose, grabbed part of it with a small pair of needle nose pliers and removed it without any issues.
Don’t tighten them very much when you reinstall! 😉
Allen head screws are the easiest to over tighten.

Thanks again!
Its a common occurrence on the little countersunk cap screws.. drill the head out with a 3mm (1/8″) drill bit just enough so the head of the cap screw falls off but drill no further.. remove the trigger housing and grip the little drilled out remaining part of the cap screw with some pliers to remove.. they will most likely be only finger tight..

A good quality left hand drill bit. As it cuts into the bolt it will warm it up and back it right out.
You might try a small easy out, if you can find the proper size. I think before another attempt at removal I would put a little heat on it with a hair dryer or heat gun and cross my fingers. Good Luck

Thank you Strietwise! Hemn I found the post he mentioned…here: http://www.talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=27050&p=266965#p266965
I’m thinking the M3X8 that are pictured in that thread will work for the screws that attach the trigger assembly to the stock receiver hole.
