New Vulcan .25 velocity
Hey guys, I’m Cale and new to this forum.
Been into airguns for last 14 years so I’m not a beginner. Last week I got my new Vulcan in .25.
Gun was shipped to my doorstep with low power spring and a fac one in the box.
So as the title says what are you getting in .25? At the moment my prochrono is at buddy’s place and he’s on a business trip :whistle:
So there is no way to see what speed the rifle is shooting.
So all of you with .25 please comment. Yesterday I tried a couple of shots, gun was filled 205bar and fired 2 mags of kings. Went right down to 150, this doesn’t looks right to me.
From what I’ve been reading it should have about 40 or so shots in .25?
Just to be clear didn’t mess with anything, only fac spring installed.
Can anyone post a picture of Hst adjuster so see how far is in the block. I put it flush with the block.
That’s it for now, I’m gonna post some pics lately because I think you haven’t seen one like this.
It has a matt synthetic stock from the factory, at least I didn’t seen one before.

Hey Cale, just read through your thread and it sounds like you have the velocity dialed in pretty good but for grins you might try Mr. Rowe’s method. Ernest’s method is to back out the HS adjuster quite a bit, take three chronographed shots, increase the HS maybe a 1/4 turn repeat the 3 shots, note velocity going up. Continue this until the velocity stops increasing. That should put your HS adjustment and regulator in sync with each other.
My 25 Vulcan Tactic likes the JSB’s well but I would recommend cleaning the barrel every 60-70 shots. Mine use to lead up really bad and my accuracy would suffer. I did polish the barrel and that helped the leading issue but I still pull a couple of patches through pretty regularly. You might also check and make sure the shroud is snug and your breech O-ring is sealing well.

So Evgeny finally answered back and as of now I’m expecting a package from him containig sidelever, a couple of mags and a fat silencer. 260€ all together.
Still need to see is it worth the money. 😉

I think it’s neat that you live in Croatia…in 1965 I was a radio announcer and worked with a Croatian national. He “escaped” from the Soviet Union and came to the U.S. He was very very bitter about the Soviet occupation of Croatia.
Croatia is a small nation of 4.8 million people…I’m thinking you are one of those.
Further…a factoid for the ignorant, as of 2014, Croatia is 21st in the world in beer consumption per annum, per capita (72.5 liters per person)…now that’s something you can be proud of!!!

Well, uncle Hoot thanks, but I’m in Croatia, so there’s no need to send me h&n’s as I can get them here. But I appreciate your advice. I’ll give them a try. Before, baracudas were my no1 choice in lw barrels. I do hope my soothing will improve with vulcan. Regarding my name (nickname actually ) it’s pronounced completely different here and it’s more like german word for paying [zahlen] just without “n” :biggrinn:

My Vulcan .25 likes H&N 31gr Barracudas. It shoots them just fine and accurately. PM me your address, IF you live in the U.S. and I’ll send you some to try.
JSB has a good reputation but not all barrels and calibers like them. You might have to try some different weight and shapes to find what makes your Vulcan happy. I can guarantee you the gun is inherently accurate.
880 fps is about tops for this gun/caliber. Squeezing more out of it, in my humble opinion, is just wasting air and time…not everyone will agree, but since I don’t really give a shit…there’s no harm, no foul.

Got the trigger fixed. Small metal clip that ataches to the blade wasn’t centered properly and upon pulling the blade was spreading and falling out. Some pliers work and that’s it. Still need to take more time with it.
Do you get better results shooting vulcan from bags or bipod?
Vulcan being small and light weight is a bit hard to shoot accurately because the power of .25 cal makes it jump. A friend of mine was having accuracy issues with his but as he learnt to shoot it right his results improved alot.
Try different cheek and shoulder pressure and you may achieve more accuracy.
Ok, back to facts. Yesterday I finally got a chance to do some shooting with the new Vulcan. So with everything set up and a chrony, did a full string and here are the results. Gun was filled 230 bar and with the Hst backed out my velocity was around 840fps. So I went and turned it in a full circle and got 880fps. Filled the gun again and started a new string. Vo1was 878fps and from that complete 4 mags were within 4fps until it was showing 150 bar.
Vo36 was 882fps.
Maybe I could do some more shots but I was satisfied with the results. So the reg is operating really good.
Now about the accuracy; I really can’t say I’m happy with, I did emptied the whole tin of kings so maybe about 300 shots went through the barrel till now. I may need some more shots to settle but so far I’m not experiencing the accuracy from the box everyone is talking about. The rifle is zeroed to 50m (55yards) and the target was set at 53m.
Kings were all over the place, I could not get a full mag-9 shots group to fall within 2″ at that distance. Best I could do was to put 3 shots touching each other but the rest was bad. So I went and tried the same with my fx elite, just to compare,and the results were great with both .22 and .25 ST barrels. Doing a sub inch groups of 5-10 shots with those two barrels at the same distance is like walking the park. Actually the elite’s velocity is exactly the same in both calibres as the vulcan’s so I’m a bit disappointed at the moment, because I was hoping to get better results from the vulcan.
And there’s more : my trigger linkage fell of 3 times from the trigger blade during the testing. So I had to remove the stock 3 times and connect it. Everything looks good, the small metal clip that holds the blade is snug and moves nicely but for some reason it keeps falling of from the hole in the blade??? :sadn:
Enyone had similar experience with the trigger?

Right now, if Cale is getting a short shot count, he’s probably shooting a bit “hot”.
I get three magazines from about 3200 psi down to 1200 psi, JSB 25’s at 880 fps.

My thoughts exactly. I did turn out hst 2mm and got 4 mags from 205 to 150Bar (3000-2200psi) Still don’t know the speed.
I got my chrony back but it’s pouring rain here for 2 days now, and today i have a business trip :sadn: Won’t be back until thursday. Also Evgeny told me 2 weeks ago that sidelever is on preorder, they don’t have it in stock,and will be available in mid march.
It looks the vulcan will have to wait a bit.
