New Vulcan .25 velocity
Hey guys, I’m Cale and new to this forum.
Been into airguns for last 14 years so I’m not a beginner. Last week I got my new Vulcan in .25.
Gun was shipped to my doorstep with low power spring and a fac one in the box.
So as the title says what are you getting in .25? At the moment my prochrono is at buddy’s place and he’s on a business trip :whistle:
So there is no way to see what speed the rifle is shooting.
So all of you with .25 please comment. Yesterday I tried a couple of shots, gun was filled 205bar and fired 2 mags of kings. Went right down to 150, this doesn’t looks right to me.
From what I’ve been reading it should have about 40 or so shots in .25?
Just to be clear didn’t mess with anything, only fac spring installed.
Can anyone post a picture of Hst adjuster so see how far is in the block. I put it flush with the block.
That’s it for now, I’m gonna post some pics lately because I think you haven’t seen one like this.
It has a matt synthetic stock from the factory, at least I didn’t seen one before.

Indeed Ernest had on the list of things he did was dampen the air valve. Now exactly how/what he did I am not sure, but all the funky sounds seem to be gone.
For what it’s worth, I took my gun apart for some cleaning and checking screws. When I first pulled the side plate off I noticed that the little clear rubber piece around the spring was all the way at the end of the spring (towards the air tube).
Thinking that it had slid, I moved it to about the same place that yours is in the photo. I now have a twang just as you describe.
When I get the chance, I will move the rubber piece back and see if it makes a difference.

Hey SaltwaterSlick, I’ve seen somewhere that Ernest did a tune for yours. Mine has a pretty loud twang noise although it has a rubber piece around the spring. From what I can tell it definitely comes from trigger section/action. I’m not sure is it a spring or what. It sure sound loud and resonates for a second after firing. Especially with your ear against the stock. Do you know what did Ernest do? Since I’m in EU I obviously can’t send it to him.
That gun (and stock) looks almost exactly like my .25 Vulcan… I added the adapter rail to the forearm so I can mount my Picatinny mount Atlas Bipod. Other than that the scope, parallax wheel etc. are exactly like mine… I love mine.

Just a precaution. So far my experience told me that new guns don’t like to be filled all the way. And it’s 205 bar not psi 😉 yes it’s new so I did excepted s bit of fidelling.
Hsnmz advice was good. I backed it out and got 4 mags from 205 to 150. It seems that velocity also went up :confusedn: my zero moved from 30m to 50m.
But at least I’ll get my chrony back this Sunday. Then I’ll have real data to deal with.
Ps: nobody commented on the new stock? Is it just me or have you seem one like this before?
I haven’t seen a stock like yours as it has a mat finish. The ones I have seen before were shiny and cheap looking. Yours definitely looks better.

Cale , why are you filling to 205 psi when you could be filling to 250 psi ? Also your gun is brand new and may need
to time to break-in .

Ok, will try that and see if it improves air consumption.
Hst adjuster on mine is about 2mm out of the block. You may need to back out the hst adjuster.
As said in the first post, i have no idea what velocity is, because my chrony is gone and won’t have it back until next week.
I consumes alot when brand new. Mine, when brand new also consumed quite a lot. It will improve with thime. What velocity is yours shooting at?
So this was after only 3 mags. Started at 205 bar 
I believe so. In the manual it says that the .25 reg is set to 150 bar. What puzzles me is only 18 shots from 205 to 150 bar. And with another mag it dropped to 100 bar.
That’s more than a 5 bar/shot, so it’s consuming a lot of air.
How many shots do you get from a fill?

I’ve owned two of these. Right now, if Cale is getting a short shot count, he’s probably shooting a bit “hot”. The best shot count comes from a very careful balance between the regulator and the HST. Don’t use the HST to make major changes in velocity in the Vulcan. It’s more like a fine watch and the Vulcan HST is best used to make fine adjustments to tune in the best accuracy.
I get three magazines from about 3200 psi down to 1200 psi, JSB 25’s at 880 fps.
The Vulcan is not a powerful .25…as some .25’s go. It tunes it best at about 43-45 FPE and gets it’s best shot count there at about 850 to 880 fps. It still packs all the energy you need from a .25 pcp, and it’s best accuracy lies in that sub 900 fps range. You can get it up a lot higher but it’s not worth the effort, time, air, and wasted power. Besides, you start pushing a pcp too hard and things start to break, like valve stems.
It’s a great little pcp, the best I’ve owned for a regular sized pcp. The Mutant Shorty still stands out as excellent. But the Vulcan is a great gun and Cale needs to get a side cocking lever put on that gun. They are available from Talon Tunes Tony…well worth the cost.
Just my thoughts, and a gun fine tuned by Ernest…your milage may vary.
