New Vulcan Questions

Hey Fellas,

Just ordered a .22 Vulcan from Top Gun for pesting and plinking. It will join my hw97kt and steroid 392 as my first pcp. It’s probably a totally irresponsible purchase. Then again, the nice about money is you can always make more of it.

Anyway I got a couple of questions for the Vulcan experts out there.

1) Any recommendations for a mid powered, mid sized scope (maybe like a 4x16x40 or something) that would go well with this pup? I’d prefer not to spend more than 350 or so. 250 would be better, provided the quality is there. I was originally planning on putting my hawke airmax 3x9x40 on it, but I feel like half the time I shoot I have to readjust that thing. A $1600 gun deserves better.

2) Ditto for ring recommendations. You guys think medium, or low with a 40mm scope?

3) Does anyone know where to get extra magazines? Two seems like about half as many as I’d want. I asked Top Gun and they said they were out of stock.

4) Are there any random spare parts I should pick up while I’m at it? I live outside the country so if it shits the bed in any way I’m probably going to have to either try to fix it myself or have someone local do it.

Thanks guys!

Nice.

UPDATE:
Just got an email from Petr. Turns out Borris was confused when I talked to him on the phone. Top Gun DID in fact have .22 vulcans. And mine shipped.

So I guess this means that if you want your vulcan, head over to top gun. Nice guys too.

Will post picks and whatnot when I get it.

So anything on delivery yet?

Hey guys, some of you where too trigger happy with your money. The Vulcan has it’s own issues it seems like on the forums. According to Ernest he thinks this new Taipan Mutant is quite the gun.I emailed him last week and he’s so excited about this gun.Like a kid with a new toy. He likes the trigger, mag index system, reg, shot count very nice gun. I’m gonna sit back and watch these episodes unfold and enjoy my Edgun. :6:

As of my last conversation with Ernest he has not had a Vulcan to review. I think that if he had one we would be reading his review and thoughts about it.

Great point Dave

i had seen Charlie Frear, Wild West Airguns got a vulcan a few weeks back.
and on the yellow form he did a write up.

In my admitedly totally unqualified opinion, the forward cocking is what puts the vulcan, colibri and soon wildcat into another class above the rest of the bullpup market. And of those three, the vulcan is the only one that has been released and doesn’t have a history mechanical problems. That’s why I picked it. However, if AGT doesn’t pick up the slack in production they’re going to lose their headstart advantage to fx. Seems likely that if the wildcat offers similar performance a lot of people who would have bought vulcan if it were available will end up going for the cheaper wildcat when it comes out. Given the advantages in production capacity and scale fx has, plus the ability to subsidize one model with the sales of a whole range of other models, it seems likely that they knock off some of the smaller outfits who don’t have the scale to compete on price. AGT reallllly needed to scale up production and sell a pile of these puppies while they were still the only ones with a reliable forward cocking bullpup in the market.

Anyway. Regardless, even if the wildcat comes out and people love it, I think I’m going to wait for my vulcan, if no other reason than that I think it looks cooler.

The gun is like the EDgun .25 on the db level. It registered 106 db at 3 feet. The sound is sharper than the EDgun however. The new Vulcan supposedly has a new moderator so the jury’s still out on what it wilÅ‚ be like. I am supposed to get a new moderator from Peter but I don’t know when they will ship.
