Q:

Newbe Intro with tons of questions

First of all I’m new to this forum and to Airforce airguns but I’m not new to the airgun scene. I used to be very involved in airguns back in the eighties and I was the go-to guy in my neck of the woods for repairs and restorations. Got out of it for a while and now I’m back with a hunger for power. PCPs were relatively rare in those days but now they’re everywhere. I bought a Discovery a few months ago in .22cal and I love it. 1″ groups at 50 yards! What’s not to love???

Getting to the point. I just ordered used a Condor in .25 cal. ( Cuz I really like to hear my pellets hit home.) and besides it seemed to me that .25 would be the best choice considering the power level of the Condor. Right? (That was the first question.)

Next question….Over the next few months I’ll be learning the capabilities of the rifle (and myself) all the while keeping my goal of getting it set up to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 100fpe for at least a dozen or more shots in the back f my mind. Where would you suggest I begin? Heavy hammer? After market valve (top-hat) etc??? I’d like to perform the work myself because I feel capable given my experience and besides I enjoy the work.

Next question… What’s the barrel diameter of a .25 cal Condor? I’ve got a TKO 7.5″ LDC that I’d like to install if it’ll fit. It’s made for a Discovery.
Eventually I’ll buy a shroud but I’d like to start shooting right away and I don’t need complaints from the neighbors.

Last Question for now…..If this was your first Condor what’s the very first mod that you’d do? Trigger, stock, angled tank mount???

Thanks in advance and I hope I wasn’t too long winded. 😀

I only used the stock tank for a couple of days so I’m not sure. The problem is you need to use Jerry’s slugs to get any accuracy. You can get 100 fpe with 43 gr Eun Jins but next shot will be under a 100. Plus not to many people have any luck with them grouping at 1000 fps or grouping period.

I would have to check and see how many shots I can get with my setup. Turn it down some to start in the 130’s and see how many shots until it gets 100 fpe.

Working on a reg setup to get 20+ shots at 100 fpe or better.

BCO3739 is the number on my condor .

Hard way man i was running 22 cal ,14 grain pellets at 1000 fps ,. and they were spinning a 22 rimfire spinner all the way around and then some, it was really to much power for around here , i was getting bad ricochets thru the trees on some of my shots and that is with pass thrus on critters , so i slowed the condor down to 930 to 880 and the kills keep coming.

I think that a modified valve condor 25 with the jsb 25 grain will probly do what your needing.but the skies the limit, just search the forum , it’s all been done already just pick your power level and tune. 🙂

Alright then, What do you folks think would be a realistic balance between power (ft lbs) and shot count for a .25 cal. Condor with a stock tank? Maybe I should be happy with the advertised 60 ft lbs?

It’s not that I’ve got a critter problem that warrants 100 ft lbs it’s just that I love to see and hear a reaction when that pellet hits the mark. I know that everyone here can relate or they wouldn’t be here. 😀

Takes a lot or air to make 100 fpe. Stock tank is 29 ci and I use 53 ci and 62 ci tanks. You have to use a etac to use the larger tanks or make a adapter to move the tank out away from the gun.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have noted many complaints with regard to those safeties.

So, ten or more shots at 100ft lbs is unrealistic? I may have to rethink my goals then.

Thanks for all of the help. I’m looking forward to visiting the forum often over the coming months. Oh, and now I know allot more about certain herbs and their climactic preferences. 😀

I bought my condor in 2009, i’ll look at the number

shit in mendo when a transformer would blow from too many neighbors running the lights at the same time the power company was on that shit quick to fix and upgrade the blown one… PG and E loved the dope growers as they paid big assed bills all the time and on time

nope, never tried that shit, known some that have and it just doesn’t seam like my type of thing…. I was just a wee bit spoiled living up in mendo county for so long…. and wile I was in washington the ol lady I had at the time’s cousin was bringing in that B/C bud so I had an endless supply of that.. and it ranked right up there with the good stuff from nor cal…… the shit they try to pass off in this state I wouldn’t of even feed to the chickens back home, shit what we called the “shop vac” (that was the big bag of shit keep in the shop for hobo visitors) puts everything i’ve seen in Az to shame…. it’s sad really

you know i have never had a problem with my safety

me either, mine brakes nice and smooth with the tip of my trigger finger. p/d is yours one of the original condors? mine is one of the first 100 and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it…. once I did pull the pins on it, when I replaced them the safety was tighter, all I did was spread the trigger housing back out at the pins and it returned back to being butter smooth
